Story
The causes of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder range from severe neglect to monstrous abuse. Many survivors grew up in houses that were not homes-in families that were as loveless as orphanages and sometimes as dangerous. If you felt unwanted, unliked, rejected, hated, and/or despised for a lengthy portion of your childhood, trauma may be deeply engrained in your mind, soul, and body. This book is a practical guide to recovering from lingering childhood trauma. It is copiously illustrated with examples of the author's and his clients' journeys of recovering.

Story
CPTSD stands for complex post-traumatic stress disorder. It’s usually characterized by emotional flashes, toxic shame, self-neglect, extreme inner criticism, and social anxiety. Causes are often found in childhood in painful feelings of various types of abuse and neglect. So, the causes are related to nurture rather than nature. That means you can be nurtured back to emotional health!

Story
There are times when life feels like it has you cornered: financial difficulties, relationship issues, work problems, all of the above. Every one of us, at one time or another, will have to face up to the challenges that come our way. And there are two ways of meeting them: negatively, where blame is the answer, where other people are at fault, where you haven’t been treated fairly. Or positively, where you own the situation, learn and grow from it and become a better person at the end of it.

Story
Most individuals who went through some traumatic experiences have temporary difficulties with coping and adjusting, but with good self-care and with some time, they normally get better. However, individuals diagnosed with PSTD struggle with negative feelings of hopelessness, anxiety, depression, and other symptoms and conditions related to PTSD for months and sometimes even for years. These symptoms - when persistent - interfere with their daily functioning in every area of their life, from their personal relationships to their work performance.

Story
Why do you lose arguments with people who know MUCH LESS than you? Why can you recognise that woman, from that thing...but can't remember her name? And why, after your last break-up, did you find yourself in the foetal position on the sofa for days, moving only to wipe the snot and tears haphazardly from your face? Here's why: the idiot brain. For something supposedly so brilliant and evolutionarily advanced, the human brain is pretty messy, fallible and disorganised.
