Summary

Have you ever wondered what distinguishes the most successful people from all of us? Is it superior genes, or is it better education? Not at all, man. The real reason that some people are able to achieve the highest level of performance is their reliance on mental models. They've understood and incorporated organized thought into their own intellectual toolbox. They will use these models in order to produce better than average performance.

A mental model is just a simpler way to look at a more complex problem. This makes this easier for you to understand and draw an accurate conclusion. You may not be aware of it, but you use models every day. A map is a model that most people understand. Once you leave your house for work, you don't need to constantly check the written instructions, you have internalized the map. You've got a mental plan on how to get to work. It saves you time and makes your life simpler. Imagine being able to internalize mental models of various and more complex types of problems.

Each one of us has perceptions of reality about how the world works - or should at least work. Created from everyday experiences, external stimuli, and rewarding actions, mental models are the driving force that drives our thinking, provides understanding, and guides our decision-making. And just like a computer hard drive, these fundamental assumptions so inner values need to be revised and restored on a regular basis.

This audioibook provides some theory.

This audioibook provides some theory but assumes the understanding the user research is important. It is a step-by-step, comprehensive guide of how to carry out the method of Mental Models in real projects. I especially like that Indi takes into account variable situations practitioners might face and weighs different shortcuts and approaches based on these situations.

Excellent! Worth every word

This is a book for people who like down to the point, effective and concise listening. The book is well organized and flows very well. All models are briefly described, a analogy is provided to make them clear and a an explanation of why they are important. Most models you have probably heard about or already use,but read the book as a refresher course of why you should do continue to use them, now with a purpose. I am sure you will also find some new inspiration on the way. I really enjoyed it.

This book is excellent.

This book is excellent. I had my doubts when I saw that it was self-published . But it does a great job explaining mental models and how to use them. I’ve listened a lot of books about mental models and I find that they are often vague and confusing. But this book is clear and straightforward. And it’s we’ll-created. I highly recommend it.

He connects well with real life.

He summarized each model well, gave an example and moved on. The book was well created, so I remember many of the principles. I have more tools to make better and faster decisions. My mind has been mapped to look at situations from more angles. Thank you.

WOW

I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to build or complement a decision making toolbox. Some of the models overlap and shadow each other which, in my opinion, helps reinforce the learning of each principle. I will certainly have a look at other works by this author.

Good!

This book offers knowledge on the mental models and further gives the guidelines on how you can enhance your mental models. It does not focus on one principle, but it looks at an all-round focus on the mental models. Therefore, you are able to listen and also note the section that you would want to improve in your life. This book is what you need if you are just starting in learning and applying the mental models in your life, or if you already have a heads-up and need enhancement.
