Summary

A visit to the urologist has never been more hilarious - or revealing - than in Men’s Health, a new comedy written by Daniel Goldfarb and directed by Scott Ellis. Adam (Tony® winner Santino Fontana) is a TV writer in search of a diagnosis for a very personal problem. He ends up half naked and fully freaked out in the exam room of Dr. Szabo (Tony and Emmy® winner Tony Shalhoub), a physician with a unique bedside manner offering some truly unorthodox treatment options. After several months of appointments, both patient and doctor begin to open up, sharing some of the most private parts of their lives. But when Adam decides to write about their relationship, Dr. Szabo discovers how frightening and freeing it feels to be truly exposed.

Fascinating

I love the perspective and the characters, and the voices sounded perfect.

My dad was a quirky eccentric outspoken Polish man, and on a funny way he came to life through this story too. Thanks

Hilarious

I had a lot fun listening this. This is the first time I like an Audible Originals to be honest.

Fantastic! Just fantastic. You won’t be sorry you listened.

The actors did a great job, but then again, Tony never disappoints. The STORY, though! A relationship between a doctor and a patient doesn’t sound like one can get too much material, but I was sometimes uncomfortable, sometimes sad, most of the time grinning, and often found myself bursting forth with an unexpected guffaw. Good stuff, Mr. Goldfarb, good stuff.

Awesome story if not for the politics

The cast of voice actors was awesome, and the underlying story was so much better than I expected. However, I like the person who won the 2016 US election, and if there was just one dig at him in the story I could have let it go and not mentioned it in my review. But it wasn’t just one dig at him. Please keep the politics out of the stories, it ruins the story and comes across as so incredibly tacky. Also, if you cannot help but put your politics in a story, put a disclaimer on it to warn consumers..... Seriously, the main character’s 6 year old daughter had a dream that the president was peeing on her?!?!?!? Who even makes up garbage like that?!?!?!?!

Funny and relaxing story

Funny short piece. I actually like those doctor moments, when you can talk openly and factually about things that you can't with anyone else, albeit it's sometimes funny to try...

Short "uncomfortable" story

Just my opinion, but this is a great listen for ALL men finding their role, friendships and conversations changing with age and modern society.

fun, funny, and fantastic performance

Both main characters are amazingly rendered, the story is wonderfully novel and uncongruous, but its main characteristic is how incredibly funny it is, I laughed and rolled my eyes and shook my head all along! Much too short, but it will be a renewed pleasure to listen to it again a couple years, once I've forgotten some of it!!

This was a new way of relationship building story.

I love this short story. I was listening to fall asleep in 30, and ended staying up to finish it. Great story. And for the people who didn't like the politics in the story, first off, it is their story, not yours, and if you that distract you, then it's you, not them that is the problem.

Once again, great actors, storytelling, and GREAT message we can learn from.

funny and lifelike

Perfect performance by Tony Shalhoub, I felt like watching a play.
The book is of perfect length. It follws an urology patients visits to the doctor, with our view at his life told through these sessions. The humorous doctor makes the patient open up and evolve through their sometimes absurd and sometimes deep conversations, climaxing, after some ups and downs, in a personal bond of friendship.

I Really Didn’t Appreciate It

I’m not sure what the point of this was? I really have great respect for the talent of Tony Shalhoub, Santino Fontana and Laura Benanti- they are all consummate Broadway veteran performers- but this was a disaster with respect to the content
