About this listen

When the CIA receives word about an upcoming terrorist attack, they immediately look towards their superagent Mitch Rapp to do whatever it takes to protect American lives in this “page-flipping extravaganza” (Publishers Weekly) from the #1 New York Times bestselling author Vince Flynn.

Just as Washington, DC, prepares for a grand Memorial Day tribute to the veterans of World War II, the CIA receives intelligence about a potential major terrorist attack. Racing to Afghanistan, Mitch Rapp leads a commando raid on an Al-Qaeda stronghold in a remote border village—and defuses plans for a nuclear strike on the nation’s capital. But Rapp knows, in the face of a new kind of enemy, nothing is what it seems—and it’s up to him alone to avert a disaster of unimaginable proportions.

Fast moving drama. Worryingly believable, a bit of choice language but used in context did not spoil the book. If you are a Rapp fan then you will not be disappointed

Well paced book l. Rapp at his best.

A well written story about the world of today and the awful possibilities that we are open to.

Thrilling book, edge of your seat action and brilliantly narrated by George Guidall. 5* would definitely recommend.

Another fantastic Mitch Rapp book

For a combination of slick covert operative action and political machinations centred on the USA and focused on "the fight against terror" Vince Flynn is hard to beat and Memorial Day is one of his best. You need to overlook the fact that the basic plot is far from original - extremists seeking to deploy WMDs on the US mainland and a fight against time to prevent said attacks - but Mitch Rapp devotees ( and those of other similar lead characters) will not mind that. You also need to not entirely reject the view that you need to fight fire with more effective fire and sympathise with Rapp's frustration with self-serving politicians and party politics.
I enjoy the narration. Although George Guidall's delivery perhaps lacks a certain dynamic range, it seems to suit the subject matter and certainly does not distract the reader from the storyline, with no incorrect pauses in the flow of a sentence, nor idiosyncratic pronunciation.
On the whole then, for lovers of this genre, this audiobook will not disappoint. I would recommend starting from the beginning of the series and working through - but I think you could read/listen as a one-off - you would miss a few nuances with long-standing relationships, but would still enjoy the storyline.

Compulsive action with political overtones
