About this listen
Brody’s got enough on his plate.
Recovering from a knee injury he hopes won’t keep him off the ice. His team, the Portland University Evergreens, have a brand new coach, and he’s hoping to impress the legendary leader. Plus, he's got to make a decision once and for all about playing professional hockey or using his love of science to go a totally different direction.
The last thing he needs is a sexual awakening at the large, calloused hands of his football player roommate.
Dean is big and brawny and taciturn, but he doesn’t need to words to woo Brody. He wants Dean, even if he thought he was straight. And Dean? Doesn’t matter that he’s never hooked up with a guy before, either.
They’re discovering new pleasures every night, while pretending during the day that they’re just roommates.
Except the heat burns so hot between them, it doesn’t just melt all the ice on Brody’s rink, it melts all his beliefs about who he is and what he wants.
But even more, it destroys the lie that he can’t fall hard for a guy. Because Brody is falling hard for Dean, and he discovers he’s not alone.

Brody is returning to college and hockey team after a knee injury. He's nervous about going back and it isn't helped that he thought he was moving in with his team mate but it turns out his new roommate is broody football player Dean. It takes a bit of adjustment for them both but they slowly become friends and they find out they are chemistry between them after they kiss which leads them to exploring together. They are good for each other. Brody is struggling with his future. He knows he wants to be a doctor but he has been drafted but he isn't sure he wants to be a professional hockey player but Dean is a good support for him. Dean on the other hand knows he wants to be a professional football player but he is very closed off but Brody helps him relax and enjoy himself and have a support system. I really enjoyed this story.

That difference is honestly what allows them to begin their friendship.
That friendship then slowly develops into something much more and it was so sweet to them both grow and realize what they want and need.
I loved all the side characters and found family aspect.
I can't wait for more from this series.
The narrator did an amazing job narrating these characters to life.
Slow burn, double bi-awakening

I loved this book. It’s a double bi-awakening, roommates-to-friends-to-lovers story with first times and heat. Both MCs have a lot on their plates and decisions they must make. Brody has to decide if an NHL Hockey career is what he really wants and Dean has to decide if he’s willing to take the risk of rejection and let Brody in.
This book gave me all kinds of feels. There were a lot of tender moments between Dean and Brody but there were also touching moments between Brody and his teammates. I loved how it was no big deal to anyone – Brody’s parents and both of their teams – when they came out as a couple. The epilogue set 18 months into the future was perfect. I can’t wait to read the next book!
I loved it!

This book involves two sports no less. Hockey (which, as a Canadian, I should know a lot about) and football (bigger in the States but still a huge following in Canada). The scenes involving the actual playing were interesting but, as always, I wanted the interpersonal relationship.
Hence falling in love with Brody and Dean.
Two very different men – and not just because one plays hockey and the other football.
Brody comes from wealth and privilege. He’s been drafted to the NHL, but he studies hard because hockey won’t last forever. His ACL injury last year is proof.
Dean needs the NFL to pull him out of the abject poverty he’s lived in. A father he never knew and a single mom who wasn’t always there for him – his football career is what’s going to save him. He also studies hard. Because he also realizes he’ll need a life beyond the field.
Now, this series is for hockey, so I might’ve gotten a bit more of the hockey team. So many names. So many possible heroes and couples. Stay tuned!
I really enjoyed the book, sinking into the bi-awakening. Neither man’s been with a man before, but once they are with each other – beyond their roommate situation – they can’t imagine being with anyone else.
Sigh.
But they’ve got obstacles to overcome. This being a Beth Bolden romance, however, I knew I’d get my happy ending.
I’ll say that I adore Darcy Stark. He just has a great voice for these books and does a fantastic job. Thoroughly enjoyable.
A great start to a new series
