How to live a better life. One of the most important books on Western philosophy - a powerful and inspirational guide for the complicated world of today

'Refreshing and restorative' GUARDIAN

'An ancient work of spiritual reflection which remains a powerful reminder of how we could live a more dignified life by avoiding deceit, vanity and greed' OK MAGAZINE

Few ancient works have been as influential as the MEDITATIONS of Marcus Aurelius. Filled with wisdom, practical guidance, and profound understanding of human behaviour, it remains one of the greatest works of spiritual and ethical reflection ever written. Marcus's insights and advice - on everything from living in the world to coping with adversity and interacting with others - have made the MEDITATIONS required reading for statesmen and philosophers alike, while generations of ordinary readers have responded to the straightforward intimacy of his style.

In Gregory Hays's translation Marcus's thoughts speak with a new immediacy. Never before have Marcus's insights been so directly and powerfully presented. Consciousness & Thought Education Ethics & Morality Movements Philosophy Spirituality Stoacılık Meditasyon

MEDITATIONS is unaffected by time and offers plenty of wisdom
Refreshing and restorative. They tell you the worst. And having heard the worst, you feel less bad

This particular version is the definitive version of Marcus Aurelius Meditations. I’ve tried other versions that were from the Shakespeare era and simply misses many of the points of Marcus’s writings. Simply sublime.

Greatest book ever written

I have listened to other translations of Meditations. I enjoyed listening to this translation. It's presented in clear modern English. The audition is clear with the appropriate pace. I highly recommend this audio book.

Excellent translation

I really enjoyed the content, but I'm sorry to say, the reader sounds like an AI bot. I found it a bit distracting at first but eventually got used to it.

Really good content, robotic reading.

The reading speed is crazy fast for this kind of material, the narrator makes no pauses between sentences. Considering that a lot of the paasages are very short, it becomes a bit difficult to comprehend.

Eternal stoic wisdom but the narrator rushes

This entire book is just a really long list of ways to think and behave.
I found it a tedious listen and far too much talk about Gods and how certain they are that they exist, which I found galling.
The number of times it was said that if it didn't happen then nature didn't intend it to happen, the Gods can't have made such an oversight. Really?
There were some nuggets of wisdom but I almost missed them due to the chaffing of the previous bold assertions made.
Luckily it is not a very long book or I wouldn't have gotten through it.
I won't be recommending this book to anyone.

Too much talk about God's and fate
