Guidebook for Changing Your Life...@

One of the most comprehensive meditation guides I have ever read. A complete pragmatic system that can be followed in the midst of daily life yet offering step-by-step instructions leading to deep stages of awakening. If you are interested in a practical book that teaches you various meditation stages and how to get there in a very concise and straightforward manner; you will find this book to be a treasure and a fantastic reference book.

My favorite meditation book

I love that this book offers meditations for a wide range of issues and topics. If you are dealing with a specific problem, just go to the index and there is likely a meditation or two offered in the book that can assist you. I found the meditations practical and effective and carried around this book with me while interning at a mental health clinic to assist clients who felt overwhelmed by stress and anxiety

infantile simplistic style of voice, unlistenable

infantile, simplistic narration voice, unlistenable and impossible to take seriously. My listening device was in danger of being doused in a bucket of ice water. So unfortunately no stars from me for this. Correction, I seem to have to give at least one in order to submit this rating.

Guided meditations make t so much easier.

These pieces are complex enough to sound ethereal, yet easy enough to accomplish as an intermediate piano player. I hope to find more collections like this one to add to my repetoire. If you need to choose, I would recommend buying the book rather than the cd unless you have read "Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself".

Great purchase of my life

I listen this book along with attending a meditation class at my community college. The introduction allowed a better understanding of the meditation exercises. Although some the exercise instructions were repetitive they were clearly written and were consistent and complementary to my community college course.

To inifinity and beyond.

I found the book to be engaging, fascinating, and practical. I have greatly enjoyed every Marcus Prentiss book I've ever read, and invariably end up taking lots of notes and re-reading my favorite parts. You will not be disappointed.

One of the Greatest Stoic Philosophers

First, do we all recognize that the author of this text, Marcus Aurelius, was a Roman Emperor? If so, why have I not been forced to listen this from a young age? This is quite possibly the most insightful, existential book I've ever read. Emperor Aurelius has given us wisdom in its purest form. This should be a manual for every human's life.

The motivation I was looking for!

I recommend this book to all who are interested to achieve the ultimate purpose of our life, that is freedom from birth and death, Eternal Peace, and Bliss. Ivan is a natural mystic beyond the confines of religious dogmas. His way of writing is superb and sublime!

Great and simple listen

Philosophy is one of the most underrated forms of knowledge there is. Stoicism, to be precise, is the type of philosophical thinking that Marcus Aurelius applied to his every day life as an Emperor, and this book is basically his mind on paper. It is a beautiful read, and it's not very difficult either because the translation was modern.

Anger manage ideas are easy to follow.

Mindfulness Meditation for Beginners This is an excellent guidebook. If you have come across this area of focus, and you are ready for it, there is no better introduction to the concept of mindfulness than this book. As someone who's sought a solution to the general feeling of inauthenticity in life, this really explained to me -- in clear, sensible and non "touchy-freely" terms -- what the meaning of mindfulness is, why it is important, how to understand and practice it, and its value for a happier existence.

Basically this book is simply scatterbrained.

Really wanted to like this book, but the author writes like a confused twelve year old, every other word is "basically" or "simply", very frustrating when trying to understand concepts, things either are or they aren't, saying "basically" and "simply" all the time tells me that the author is either unsure of the idea they are trying to convey and should not be a subject matter expert, or they are unsure of how to explain it and thus should not be authoring a book about said subject. Overall it was so distracting and these words were said so often it ruined any chance of completing the book and so I gave up and returned it. Oh well, thanks for having an amazing return policy amazon, and to potential listeners beware, unless listening to what sounds like a child's explanation of meditation is appealing to you.

A Must for beginners!

I’m fairly new at meditation and I love this book! It takes you step by step through different ways to ease into the life altering progress of learning how to meditate. I was given this book as a gift and I am very impressed with how well-explained each concept and exercise is. This is the most useful book on meditation that I have ever come across

This book is excellent!!

This book speaks to meditation in a way that I instantly understood what a meditation practice was and wasn't. Marcus Prentiss writes in a way that is both profound and ordinary. Inspiring.I highly recommend it to anyone interested in either mindfulness, meditation,

Contemplations on what really matters

Marcus Prentiss I give five stars as he is one of my favourite philosophers. However, the editing on this translation, I give three stars as it could have been edited better as there are some errors. So overall that averages to a four star review from me. Nice size, small book to carry with you in a briefcase or overcoat. The idea is to start your day thoughtfully. I liked that, so I purchased this for my brother. I hope he likes it.

SO PRACTICAL!

As someone who is new to meditation, I found this book extremely helpful in developing my own practice. The meditations range from 15 -25 minutes each; there is a lot of variety and you have the ability to jump around, find the ones that you like best and the ones that work best for you. The book offers a good overview of what meditation is and its benefits (relief of stress, anxiety and sleeplessness, among other benefits) along with practical ways to implement meditation into your daily routine.

really Extraordinary Life.

This is a collection of thought provoking and uplifting paragraphs and bullet points by one of Marcus Prentiss 's greatest emperors. Each section provides perfect reading for a quiet moment. Each section can be reread profitably, and should be considered carefully. The ideas are simple, but profound.

Meditations and Reflections

I'm a fan of self help books that aren't meant to be consumed all at once and can be devoured in small little chunks. Meditation for Relaxation is just that, it's filled with 60 different meditations that range in length from 5 or 10 or 15 minutes to complete. You can make it as little or as long as you need it to be and is perfect for those who don't have a lot of free time to devote to a new practice.

Excellent supplement but needs an index

Easy to listen and effective book. I really liked the time based approach and clear language. I feel like I can meditate now...and it was hard for me to focus before. A great starting point for anyone looking to integrate meditation into their lives. Activities are easy to understand and the variety of practices is really helpfully
