hauntingly beautiful book

Summary
If you enjoyed Me Before You by JoJo Moyes, One Day by David Nicholls, or The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, then make time for Kelly Rimmer's stunning, heartbreaking new audiobook, Me Without You. A story of how love can break our hearts - and heal them.
A year ago I met the love of my life. For two people who didn't believe in love at first sight, we came pretty close.
Lilah MacDonald - beautiful, opinionated, stubborn and all kinds of wonderful in ways that words could never quite capture. The woman who taught me to live again.
My Lilah, who gave me so much and yet kept from me a secret that she knew would break my heart.
My name is Callum Roberts, and this is our story.
Me Without You is an audiobook to make you smile, bring you to tears and remind you to hold on tightly to those you love.

Trite predictable rubbish
Totally predictable, trite rubbish. I endlessly rolled my eyes throughout. The characters were so one dimensional. I kept hoping it would get better because it had so many good reviews and was compared to Us by David Nichols which I loved. I wish I hadn't persisted with it to the end. It never improved and doesn't hold a candle to 'Us'. I found both the story and the performance to be woeful. Would give zero stars if I could. Utter disappointment.

Exceptional writing
I didn't have any expectations for this book. I assumed it would pass the time on some long walks. However it was incredible. The writing was superb and I totally felt the emotions of the characters. I wept at one stage. I was carried along with the story and although the ending was inevitable, it didn't detract from the story.
Beautiful written. Well read. Great book.

Poignant
I thought this was a very good book. The subject matter was sad and the outcome inevitable but the two characters were well drawn and sympathetic. The narrator did a very good job of projecting the individual voices. I will be reading more books by this author and hope they will be as engrossing.

A male
A male should have read this book instead of a female. Most of the book is seen through Callum’s eyes not Lyla’s. Even as a narrator it should have been male. I wanted to desperately like this book but with the voices it was very hard to follow and understand.

Good Story; Too detailed
I really cared about the two main characters. However the story seemed to have numerous details about other characters that slowed the narrative unnecessarily. I wish I had known before I bought this audiobook that the narrator had a strong Australian accent. Because I have a hearing loss, I had difficulty understanding some of it as an American who rarely hears that accent. Since this story was told mostly from the male character's point of view, I think the narration would have been more effective if there had been a male narrator instead. The writing was very realistic, making it easy for me to get engrossed in the story.

Keep your thinking cap on
A women’s narration of a man’s story without much change in her voice, and a female character named Peter (maybe Peta, hard to tell from the pronunciation). Had to really concentrate on who was speaking.

A mixed bag
I am so glad I stuck with this book. I really did not like the main character at first, but grew to love her. My struggle with the single narrator was that I had a hard time knowing who was talking. She made no attempt to change her voice between the male and female characters. But in the end, I Loved This Book!
