Summary

Things I learned when I was 14: Never keep secrets from your girlfriend. Never get into a scrap with a bigger lad. Never play football with a black ball when it's dark. And never let anyone hurt your mam. Ever.

Domestic violence seen through the eyes of a teenager

An insightful, different perspective on domestic violence, as it follows one boys quest to help his mother. The fact much is written in the local dialect made it enjoyable and more light-hearted somehow. Not too depressing, yet not glossed over. Could be a great conversation starter if read by young adults. Would make a good school text.
