Summary

For years, Jess has been told that the only man she ever loved abandoned her when she needed him most.

But when she discovers a hidden box of cards and letters, she realises her life has been built on a foundation of lies.

Fuelled by the words of the man she thought she'd lost, she follows in his footsteps, tracing his path in the hope she might find him again. Though years have passed and people change, in her heart Jess hopes that, maybe one day, they will be whole again.

A tender and moving novel that will break your heart and put it back together again.

Heartbreaking in parts, but silly in general.

If only information about missing persons could be uncovered in such a short space of time. some of this book is very moving, descriptions of grief, loneliness and loss are beautiful. unfortunately, the storyline is silly, amd the ending very silly.

An emotional read

I got a few chapters into this book and I wasn’t sure i wanted to carry on. Although it was beautifully written, it was very sad.
I stuck with it, because i liked the characters and i wanted them to have a happy ending.
There weren’t many light moments, which doesn’t make the book bad, it just wasn’t what i was expecting.
Overall, the book is well written, as the reader you really feel the pain and emotion of the characters.
It was a good story, of a little predictable.
Really likeable characters that i would love to return to in future books.
If you want light and fluffy, this isn’t it, but it is a good read and well worth the tears!

Bad depressing reading

I'm so disappointed. I'm a big fan of Debbie Johnson's and have been waiting eagerly for this book. But the narrator is so bad she's putting me to sleep. she sounds depressing and the speed is uneven so either coma-inducing slow or thief-fast so it's impossible to improve it by increasing the playing speed. When there are new characters we can't tell who's speaking because the changes of voice are so random it's confusing
I can't believe someone as successful as Debbie Johnson (or her publishers) can't find a better narrator

At best dull!

The first 3rd of this story is a slow and torturous journey through the life of the main character, it was depressing and not helped by the narration.
I had to stop myself from forwarding through the story and force myself to listen, finally it became slightly less tedious and a little easier to listen to.
The ending was predictable. I couldn't wait for this story to be over. Not once did I find any humour in this tale of woe.
I had read previous reviews and picked out the odd bad one, thinking that it was strange that most of them raved about this book and wondered why a handful of people hadn't enjoyed it, unfortunately now I realise that the few were right.....in future I will allow myself to be guided by the bad reviews.
