Malia's Miracles
I enjoyed this book and liked premise of Malia and her kin, and the question should they risk dicovery to help Chrisy's mother. By trying to save Christy, they expose themselves to danger. The story is engaging and the characters interesting, I'm looking forward to starting Varick's Quest.

A lovely continuation
Malia's Miracles is a wonderful continuation of the Devya's Children series.
The danger doesn't escalate as quickly as the first two books, instead it presents highly personal stakes and hints at higher stakes that do present by the end of the book.
I loved the deep character interactions and introspections along with the dicussions of moral and ethical dilemmas. It makes me so grateful for my normal life, yet anxious to make some difference in the world.
I prefer Kristen Condon's narration, but Julie Hinton does a good job. I especially enjoy the British accents, but that's always the case.
I'm ready for the next book.

Listen to the series in order
Any additional comments?
3.5 stars
Overall an entertaining, engaging and enjoyable story. But very confusing especially in the beginning. This is most likely due to the fact that I listened to book 0, missed books 1 & 2 then listened to this installment which is book 3. This has left me at a disadvantage. This is one of those series you need to listen to in order to understand all that is going on. It is a very detailed and complex series and at the same times in many ways is quite simple. This just adds to the confusion of all that has gone on in the series before that I have missed.
Honestly, this story would probably make a better T.V. series than a book series. It is definitely a show I would watch. Unfortunately, people do judge books by their covers. It's what grabs your attention first. That being said I think it would help if the series all had different covers. That's just a personal observation.
Would I continue with the series? Yes, but I would have to go back and read them all in order before continuing with the next installment.
I'm not a fan of how the journal entries were done in this story. They were/are confusing at times. Their gifts are explained/ or you are reminded of them in the story which helped a great deal. It is hard at times to keep track of exactly who everyone is. Especially with all the alternate names they all use. After a while their names all blend together.
This story had much more character and life than the first book I listened to in the series which was The Dark Side of Science, this is due to the narration. It would probably benefit the author if the first book was re recorded with this narrator. She just added so much more character and personality to the story.
Julie Hinton did a great job with the narration. Pleasant voice. Clearly spoken. Smooth even pace. Good character voices. She brought the characters and the story to life through her narration. Very enjoyable

Lost and confused
Reading the summary of this book, I was excited to take a fabulous journey with these children and their special powers. I tried and tried to get into the storyline and the characters. I just could not seem to grasp their powers or their stories or really much of what was going on. I see that this is the 3rd book in a series, and so I think maybe I need to read the first 2 books to understand and appreciate what's going on. Without the background of the first 2 books, I cannot seem to follow where the book is trying to take me. I ended up stopping this audiobook and moving on. I do think the plot sounds great and maybe one day I will purchase the first few books and see what's really going on with Malia and the rest of the gang.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
