Summary

As a 14-year-old he was Malcolm Little, the president of his class and a top student. At 16 he was hustling tips at a Boston nightclub. At 20 "Detroit Red" was in prison. It was there Malcolm Little started the journey that would lead him to adopt the name Malcolm X, and develop his beliefs about what being black means in America: beliefs that shook America then, and still shake America today. His significant role in the Nation of Islam and eventual split from it, along with his journey to Mecca, followed by his assassination in Harlem are chronicled in this fascinating portrait.

Very good concise biography

Fantastic biography, covers all major events in Malcolm's life in a concise manner and gives the listener a great overview of his short but eventful time here. Rest in peace Malcolm.

Good top level overview

Well narrated and a good overview. But if you know anything about Malcolm X already than this can be a little repetitive and basic.

Absolutely and unbelievably OUTSTANDING!

This is grappling stuff. I couldn't stop listening from beginning till end. This is very educational in a very balanced way with reference to J. F. Kennedy, Mohammad Ali, Rose Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., Leaders of Africa, China, Cuba, Arabia and so much more. It's also about his childhood, teenage years, Prison, Nation of Islam, Hajj Married life and fame, as well as his death and the death of many great people who contributed so much to racial justice and opened an new page in humanity as they left a legacy for all to learn from. This audio is absolutely outstanding and an absolute must have!!!

A great story not fully told

I have been very interested to learn more about the Malcolm X story for a long time and this book certainly expanded my knowledge. My only disappointment was the lack of detail given on his assassination, I will now be looking for another book that covers the theories in some detail which is a bit of a shame.

Good introduction to Malcolm X

This is a good (but rather short) biography on Malcolm X. The narration is very good and what there is of the story is well researched and informative.

Having read stories on Martin Luther King Jr the difference in life stories of these two men is intriguing. Well worth a listen if you are interested in the civil rights movement.
