About this listen

The must-read romcom about friendship, love and finding yourself, perfect for fans of Emily Henry and Bolu Babalola.

Issy is an artist but the world doesn't know it yet.

As someone who self-identifies as 'gay and depressed', Issy keeps her life in Margate small: her mum, her chinchilla, her reliable routine.

So when she is offered her dream job at an artist's studio, Issy knows it's time to open herself up to more.

Moving to East London, Issy has a lot of firsts to catch up on - navigating a crush on her gorgeous housemate, dating, sex, and obsessing over her boss who she just can't seem to figure out.

As pressure mounts, people keep telling Issy she can do anything she sets her mind to. But what if her mind refuses to cooperate . . . ?

'A masterful love letter to queer joy' Justin Myers, author of The Fake-Up

This book is pretty brutal on the mental health side. Properly tear inducing at points. I really enjoyed the book but I definitely missed the normal Laura Kay humour from her earlier stories. The Split had me laughing out loud loads but with this book I only have memory of one out loud funny moment. A good listen on audiobook but also pretty hard at points.

To find an author whom can give you a laught and goosebumps almost on the same sentence is difficult to find, and when the subjects are related to lesbians, queer people is more than amazing. The narrator, is a big thumbs up for me!

Laura is the best for rom-com
