Pleasant enough
This book suited as an average feel good romance: two individuals are dealt with pain, a young cattle rancher, Seth injures his leg severely. And a young woman, Maddie, was nearly compromised but left attacked by someone she had called her 'best friend'. They both see a bleak future off in the distance, that is until they get in touch. They find the letters between them very comforting and soon the young woman makes her way to Montana. But, she has no thoughts of marriage, nor does he, they simply want to meet as this would allow Maddie to create a new future, for just a short time. As well as giving her a chance to see her sister and her sister's family. There in Montana, they, predictably, fall in love. But can the city girl embrace the life of a country gal?
This book wasn't anything new. This is how Mail order bride stories work. I do hope to pass this phase of being fascinated by them. Though, quite honestly, I find that this isn't a typical MOB type of novel: Maddie and Seth did not write of marriage at all, in their letters.
In spite of it not having been a novelty, the writer's style was slightly different: the reader gets a chance to meet all the family members, most likely to give the chance of a spin-off or sequel to this book (though, each of these books can be read as a standalone). In terms of the family, I only really liked Seth and the constant banter between him and his brothers. I appreciate witty dialogue. And the narrator was good with this. Though, he wasn't quite as good with the female characters, they all sounded the same. It's understandable, however, the dialogue of the female characters sounded very old, grown up, mature. It didn't fit.
Also the story was very drawn out, there was no real plot (aside from the injuries). Unless, you consider 'love' to be a problem. I feel that the writing could definitely have been spruced up, written concisely. There were some instances where the characters name kept coming up, it would say something like: 'Jeff picked up the apple, Jeff sat down. Then, while staring at the apple, Jeff noticed...'. (this is only an example, not an actual passage). In such instances the use of a pronoun would easily have sufficed.
I received this book through Audiobook Boom.

Enjoyable story with realistic characters
When I saw that this book was a "clean" historical romance, I was prepared for something sickly sweet. Instead I was pleasantly surprised. The story had some depth and was overall enjoyable and entertaining. The characters were realistic with their individual quirks. The decided lack of sex and bad language does not take away from the story. In fact, I enjoyed this book enough to consider reading more from this author and series.

This a romantic western historical love story that is a true romance novel. It is a sweet story of finding love after overcoming tragedy. This is the second book in the series, and although I didn’t read the first book, I had no trouble following the story. I will be looking into more from this series as well as this author.
The narration was spot on. He did a wonderful performance for this type of genre.

What did you like best about Mail Order Bride, Westward Dance? What did you like least?
This was a nice, cute story. I liked the romance between Maddie and Seth. They fell in love the old fashioned way.....through writing letters to each other. The narrator's voice really suited the 'Old West' theme and I would listen to more by the narrator. He made a an average story more enjoyable.

Great second book - clean romance
I really enjoyed this book. This book is a clean romance, and though each story can stand alone, I enjoy reading the series in order. This book was fun because you are able to go more in depth and meet the family of the brides. I like how each bride in this series has their own personality and their own "baggage" to deal with - the series is not one story regurgitated several times. The characters are interesting and well-developed, the story is engaging, and it is easy to care about the characters. I listened to the Audible audio version narrated by J. Scott Bennett, and I really can't say enough good things about the narration. I really enjoy Bennett as a narrator and will continue to listen to books he has done. Overall, if you enjoy clean romance, I highly recommend this book, as well as the other books in the series.

Good Story
What happens when a woman is attacked and almost beaten to death then falls into depression and a man on a cattle drive is injured and must sit still for months? Well this book answers that question in a manner that is at times funny, quirky, and real. The two of them get together after exchanging letters but they come from two different worlds. She is a city girl and he will always be a man who must have the wide open spaces of the ranch and the trail drive.
this is Book of the O'Sullivan daughters. The father and mother of these three girls are still very much in love after decades of being together. their daughters are searching for that same type of love. Tessa has found it and now Maddie must also. Will she give up on love just to remain in the city that has caused her such pain or will she take a chance on love and allow life to really happen? You need to read the book to find out. It is worth the credit.

An Enjoyable True Western Romance
WESTWARD DANCE was a great listen. Two people who'd been injured in different ways being brought together by fate. Maddie was so sweet and Seth was too and he was also supportive of her past which helped him with his injury. One of my favorite parts was Seth learning to dance. I love the characters of Maddie and Seth as well as the supporting characters such as Maddie's parents, especially her father. The story was good and hooked me right away and held my interest the whole time.
This is the first audiobook I've listened to written by Linda Bridey and I'd listen to more from her. I think she's great in this genre. I love Mail Order Bride stories.
I thought J. Scott Bennett's narration was excellent. He has amazing vocal skills and even does a great job with the female voices without missing a beat. He made this a great listen.

Sweet Story
Westward Dance by Linda Bridey opens with Madelyn O’Connor being attacked by someone who was supposed to be her friend. That seemed really strange and quite unbelievable to me. Because this is a person she felt comfortable with for a long time, for him to turn into a creeper is just a little farfetched. I understand the premise of the story and why the author wanted it to go the way it did, so I am glad I kept going with the story.
I enjoyed the characters and the family dynamic. This is the second book in a series and I hadn’t read the first one, but I didn’t feel lost at all. It was nice meeting these characters for the first time. Seth Samuels is a witty character that comes off as a rugged, no-nonsense cowboy. He wrote a few sweet letters to Madelyn. Even though a couple other reviews said it was unbelievable that she would want to go to Montana after only a few letters, to me, that seemed very believable. What better way is there to heal your hurts than spending time with your family far away from the person that caused you so much pain? The letters from Seth felt real to me. Besides the very beginning, I felt the whole story was very good and I really could imagine all of what the author was describing. She really did a great job in my opinion.

Just an alright storyline
--I was given a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review
This story was just a little to easy for me. It was enjoyable to listen to, but I had a hard time believing the premise. Maddie O'Connor is attacked by her friend Theo when she does not return his feelings. She becomes reclusive and depressed. Seth Samuels is hurt badly while herding cattle and begins to write to Maddie while recuperating. He has an easy way about him. Here is where I have a hard time. A few letters, and Maddie seems healed. I too love Seth, he is good looking, warm, friendly and has an easy personality. But after she went through, and the amount of time she was out of commission, a few letters would not have pulled her out. The story continues, and she goes to him(her sister is married to his brother) and they hit it off. Seth's leg is not healing, they go to Pittsburgh for help which is where Maddie is from. When he better, he asks Maddie to marry him..will she give up her life in Pittsburgh to live on a ranch? You have to listen to it to find out.
J Scott Bennett is what made me keep listening. He has a beautifully soothing voice for books of this type.
