Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Magnus Chase and the Ship of the Dead by Rick Riordan, read by Michael Crouch.

Loki the trickster god is free from his chains. Now he's readying Naglfar, the Ship of the Dead, armed with a host of giants and zombies, to sail against the Norse gods and begin the final battle of Ragnarok. It's up to Magnus Chase and his friends to stop Loki's plans, but to do so they will have to sail across the oceans of Midgard, Jotunheim and Niflheim in a desperate race to reach Naglfar before it's ready to sail on Midsummer's Day.

Along the way, they will face angry sea gods, hostile giants, and an evil fire-breathing dragon who happens to be a former acquaintance. But Magnus's biggest challenge will be facing his own inner demons. To defeat Loki, Magnus will need to use words, not force. This will require finding a magical elixir so deadly that it will either make Magnus Chase powerful enough to out-talk the silver-tongued Loki, or destroy Magnus utterly.

even at nearly 40 I LOVE this series

Rick writes as though each and every character is his best friend! The way Alex has grown is amazing. His understanding of Muslim culture is inciteful. The way it all comes together keeps you entertained to the very last word and leaves you wanting the next book.... like now!

Another great adventure of the huge hearted hero.

The thing I love about Rick's books is that he makes each setting distinct, each character unique and each story memorable.

And the moment in Magnus' hotel room in the last chapter is just perfect. I don't want to spoiler, so I won't say more here. :)

Wow again

Excellent finale. I won’t say too much because I don’t like spoilers, but the tale is all pulled together well.

Narrator very good, no offence to Kieren Culkin but this guy is much better.

Enjoyable

As a true Brit, seeing Micheal Crouches attempt to imitate sam, Alex and Mallory hurt. I mean do they all have to have the same high pitched almost whiny voice? But I enjoyed it though

This one I liked very much!

I’ll admit I’m not a big fan of audiobooks, sometimes I can’t engage with the content, get bored and just drop the audiobook altogether.

This one was amazing!!! Michael Crouch’s performance was phenomenal :) he can make his voice a 100 different ways when the dialogs involve a lot of characters! Loved it very much! Will keep an eye out for more books read by him!
