Summary

Discover the fate of the original black Magician, Pug, and his crew of agents who safeguard the world of Trigia, as prophecy becomes truth in the last book of the last-ever Midkemian trilogy, the final volume in the epic Riftwar Cycle.

The dragons are calling.… Civil war is tearing apart the Kingdom of the Isles, for the throne lies empty and rivals are converging. Having spirited his beloved Princess Stephané safely out of Roldem, Hal - now Duke of Crydee - must turn his attention to the defence of the ancient realm so that a king can be anointed by the Congress of Lords, rather than by right of might. But the greatest threat may well lie out of the hands of men.

Somewhere in the Grey Towers Mountains something not of this world is emerging. It will require that alliances be made between mortal enemies if disaster is to be averted. Elves and men must stand together, ancient heroes must rise again, dragons must fly and Pug, Magnus and the other magic-users of Midkemia must be prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice if the whole world is to be saved.

A Fitting End

A good end to what has been an epic series. It really got me right at the end. Two and a half years I’ve been invested in this. What am I going to listen to now? I will miss this.

I will be lost.

Well the saga is over. I will miss all the characters as Peter Joyce narrated this so well. I have listened to all the books I can and this was a fitting end to it all. Peter doesn't get all the words right but does fill your ears with the characters and surroundings of the story

Fantastic

Peter nails it again with the narration. Couldn't have asked for a better voice to bring these characters to life one last time. Can't believe this outstanding series is over. I've loved every minute of it and this was the icing on the cake. A brilliant ending to some of the best story telling I've ever experienced. Well done mr Feist, well done.

Just fantastic.

What made the experience of listening to Magician's End the most enjoyable?

Every book in this series (except A Crown Imperilled) is narrated by the marvellous Peter Joyce. His voice made this series special and the final instalment was no exception.
I knew this was the final chapter in the saga and wanted it to last and last, but as with the other books I sped through it. The story line was one of the best (they are all hugely enjoyable).
Many of the threads running through previous books were drawn together and the ending was true inspired. In many cases you find out how the descendants of characters in previous books have done.
I actually cried at the very end. I don't want to spoil things for other readers so won't mention what happens, but it is moving and although I didn't want the series to end, Feist could not have done it better.

What other book might you compare Magician's End to, and why?

All the other Midcamia (Pug the Magician) books.

What does Peter Joyce bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

He's just great. Each character is distinct and for the most part are recognisable from book to book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I've said this already............the end.

Any additional comments?

Don't listen to this book until you have completed all those that come before. Start with 'Magician' and keep going. Miss out 'A Crown Imperilled' as for some inexplicable reason Audible used another narrator who was so bad I couldn't stand him and I got a refund, along with many others if the reviews are anything to go by.
Happy listening :-)

Magicians End

I haven't listened all the book's in this series but the ones I have listened to have been extremely entertaining and well structured. This is the last book and it was a great finish to the series

Fitting end to a great story

Not to be missed ending to an epic multi life spanning story line. Narrated perfectly by Peter Joyce. I just hope the other books in the series get the same attention and narrator as I'm missing a great part of the series when the publishers decided to use another narrator.
I really hope to see more of the new Midkemia in the future.

A satisfying conclusion to the series

What did you like most about Magician's End?

It was back to Feist at his best. The seasoned Feist fan knows and loves the characters and this book doesn't disappoint. In a way it reminded me of his classic 'Magician' and indeed it does bring an end to the incredible saga.

What did you like best about this story?

My favourite characters are all in there...including a couple of well loved old friends I thought had gone to the Halls of Lims-Kragma.This series has it all, Pug, Demons, Dragons Valheru, the ConDoin family, Crydee and the inevitable battles, politics, misunderstandings, acts of incredible bravery, espionage, even a little bit of romance....I could go on...

Which character – as performed by Peter Joyce – was your favourite?

I'm used to Peter Joyce now as I've binge listened to most of the books.
