What an absolute blast! I’m new to this author, but I’ve already added more of his books to my wishlist. I completely binged this one! Brilliant pacing, completely bonkers, with a great balance of humour. Loved the narration too! Being Scottish myself, I thought the performance was spot on and perfectly suited to the story.

This is the second book ive read by the author and I love his writing style. This is beautiful and horrific, with unusual characters and a story that is far from predictable.

When I was recommended this book by a horror genre enthusiast, I saw the splatterpunk tag and hoped it would be something else except a pure gore fest.
But it’s not, it’s a very simple, many times seen plot used as a backdrop to gory glory-kills the monster performs on characters.
If you’re here for gore, this is great (i think?), but if you’re expecting some creative, mind bending or atmospheric horror-adjacent storytelling - this ain’t it.
Im not the audience for this kind of thing, for sure.

I enjoyed The Haar but this one was really silly. The humor didn't land that well and the author is a bit too genital obsessed in this one. actually found this one a bit embarrassing to listen to unfortunately.
