Summary

Jack

I’m the son of Liam O’Reagan, next in line to wear the crown.
And when I prove myself worthy, I will RULE over the Irish Mafia.
I don’t have time for distractions - much less time for a woman who has always been the bane of my existence.
When Maeve comes back into my life, I fight like hell to resist the pull she has on me.
An attraction that has only grown stronger with time.
But, when trouble lands her at my feet, I take the opportunity to have what I truly want.
I offer her a deal. I’ll help her, but the cost will be one night in my bed.
One night of submission.
One night to have her completely at my mercy.
If only I had known my battle with Maeve would start a war.

Maeve

Jack is the only one who can help me.
Too bad, he hates me.
But I have no choice but to go to him.
It turns out, hate is a powerful motivator, and I just handed him a way to punish me.
He offers me his help—for a price. Everything in his world has a price.
One night in his bed.
He’s everything a woman would want, so this should be easy. Only, I’m a virgin, and he terrifies me.
I should run, but I won’t.
I can’t.
I just pray this one night doesn’t destroy us both.

I love Vi Carter- she knows how to write fast-paced books that suck you in from the start. But with the one-two punch of narration by Michael Gallagher and Sarah Jane Rose, this story has become one of my favorites. So much, this one is worth a re-listen.

Although Maeve and Jack knew each other as children, their lives diverged as Jack followed the path of the Irish Mafia and Maeve just tries to keep her family above water. When Maeve’s addicted brother gets himself in trouble over drugs and money, Maeve offers herself to Jack in exchange for his help. What starts out as an arrangement becomes deeply complicated when feelings and secrets become intertwined.

I listened to this book every chance I could. Highly recommend!

Complicated

Audiobook review. Jack and Maeve were a complicated couple. Jack was slated to become the leader of the Irish mafia. He was raised in a way that was somewhat cold and detached but underneath that he’d been harboring feelings for Maeve. Maeve also had complicated feelings for Jack. While there was attraction there, Jack hadn’t been good to her and her new predicament placed her directly in his destructive path.

The plot took us through both external and internal conflict. It ranged from expectations to loyalties and many more themes in between. Definitely a complex range that made the story more interesting. I found myself quite frustrated with Jack and Maeve at times because had they communicated better a lot could have been avoided. Both of them are quite stubborn. They made a ton of assumptions about one another’s motives instead of just asking. But alas that is the nature of fiction.

Michael Gallagher and Sara Jane Rose did a good job with their narration and characterization. I’m not experienced enough to speak to the authenticity of the accents but they sounded good to me.

Looking forward to listening to more from this series.

Enthralling!

Mafia Prince, the first instalment in the Young Irish Rebels, is exquisitely penned, cleverly plotted, and gripping. Vi Carter's character development is phenomenal; the realism of the environment, mafia culture, and characteristics of the cast were all spot-on. The main and the secondary characters were multi-layered, flawed, damaged, complex, and totally authentic. Jack and Maeve's relationship with each other was as complicated as the torrent of emotions and thoughts running through them, old wounds, grudges, and misunderstood childhood memories.

Their story was utterly enthralling and sensual, wrapped in suspense, intrigue, and surprising twists and turns. The constant was Jack's trials and his relationship with his father and the rest of the clan. As well as Maeve's relationship with her own broken family and her unshakable loyalty to a heroin addict brother and alcoholic mother. The ending was wholly gratifying, leaving me with a satisfied smile. Moreover, Vi Carter set the grounds for the next book in the series, which can't be recorded fast enough.

The narration was spectacular. Michael Gallagher and Sarah Jane Rose depiction of the characters, personalities, and emotions was flawless. Their Irish accents made the characters even more genuine. Mafia Prince is a very well-written mafia romance with quality narration, one I will highly recommend.

My interest is piqued!

Maeve Reilly is the strong one of the family, the protector, the provider. She has dealt with struggles nobody her age should have to deal with, but when she returns home from college for the weekend this time things take a terrible turn and her life is uprooted.

Jack O'Reagan is next in line to take over for his father. His family is mafia royalty and he is being shaped to take over the thrown. Things get twisted and there is a rat that needs to be taken care of, but the answers aren't what you think..

These two had chemistry that was obvious from the beginning, the history between them isn't the greatest, but there is always more to the story than you think.

Maeve has always been best friends with Jack's sister Dana, her and Jack didn't get along as kids so the thought of him being her only savior when she needed help intrigued me.

Now the reason I say my interest is piqued... This story felt unfinished, there was so much potential and I was ready to see where the story went then all of a sudden they were on the epilogue and it felt as though I had missed 10 chapters. There are so many questions still unanswered and I really hope that's because these are continuation books. But this story didn't feel complete, it just seemed to end. Quite abruptly too. Now I am hoping the next books bring the answers I'm looking for..

Michael Gallagher and Sarah Jane Rose were spectacular! Michael's Irish accent was amazing and Sarah really knew how to bring out the emotions Maeve was feeling!

Unexpectedly hot!

I enjoyed this audio in many levels. I like the characters, and the dialogue was pretty good. The audio took the authors words, and elevated it to a whole new level. The performance was amazing.

My Thoughts on Mafia Prince

A new dark mafia romance by a new to me author that I absolutely could not get enough of. There were so many intense moments. And just so much I didn’t see coming. There were all the elements I love and look forward to in my dark mafia romance but I just didn’t expect how I was going to get it. By the end though I liked both main characters and am very excited for more of this series. The narrators did an amazing job. I absolutely loved both of them. Not only did I love the accents, but I think they did great changing up the different tones for the different characters. I want more of this series, these characters and definitely these narrators.

Interesting

Mafia Prince is an interesting beginning to what I hope is going to be an exciting dark romance series. While I didn't really love any of the characters, I did like the dual point of view between Jack and Maeve. Their relationship was all over the place while they sorted out their feelings for one another. The storyline was full of danger and suspense and kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning until the end. I'm looking forward to listening to more of this series. Both Michael Gallagher and Sarah Jane Rose did a good job bringing this story to life.

BOOK 🌟🌟🌟🌟

I enjoyed the book, at points I thought the heroine was a bit annoying. Loved Jack though from beginning to end.

I enjoyed the audio of the voices, at point the female one annoyed me but not sure if cause the heroine was annoying me.

Dark Irish Mafia Romance

Mafia Prince by Vi Carter is a Dark Irish Mafia Romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Michael Gallagher and Sarah Jane Rose. This is the first book in the Young Irish Rebels series.

This is the first book of Vi's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Maeve and Jack. Their relationship was messy but you couldn't help but root for them.

I can't wait for the next book in the series Mafia King to be released on audio so I can get Emma and Shay's story.

Michael and Sarah did an amazing job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would highly recommend this book if you love dark romances, mafia romances, or romantic suspense.

Ugh I loved the accents!!!

I’ve seen Vi Carter’s name all over but hadn’t indulged until now.

Irish Mafia...yes...b/c I just love the way they speak!!

Maeve, the girl that tries to take care of everyone...but who is taking care of her. Well, let’s just say her mom isn’t. She learns of her brother’s misdoing and tries to save them all. In order to do so, she tries to borrow money, from the wrong people. Because this person doesn’t want a monetary pay back.

Jack, he will one day take over everything. When Maeve comes to help seeking help, he takes his chase at owning her.

But as most of these books come to fruition, she finally gives in to him b/c her body betrays her. Dude is hot, can you help her?

Like Mafia? Like accents? Like a weak h and alpha H? This one is for you.

I was lucky to have rec’d an Audio ARC from Pink Flamingo and the audio totally won the book for me. Mafia books could seem a bit the same if you’ve read enough but UGH did I love the Irish accents here. Michael Gallagher and Sarah Jane Rose, did phenomenal!!!
