About this listen

Jack

I’m the son of Liam O’Reagan, next in line to wear the crown.
And when I prove myself worthy, I will RULE over the Irish Mafia.
I don’t have time for distractions - much less time for a woman who has always been the bane of my existence.
When Maeve comes back into my life, I fight like hell to resist the pull she has on me.
An attraction that has only grown stronger with time.
But, when trouble lands her at my feet, I take the opportunity to have what I truly want.
I offer her a deal. I’ll help her, but the cost will be one night in my bed.
One night of submission.
One night to have her completely at my mercy.
If only I had known my battle with Maeve would start a war.

Maeve

Jack is the only one who can help me.
Too bad, he hates me.
But I have no choice but to go to him.
It turns out, hate is a powerful motivator, and I just handed him a way to punish me.
He offers me his help—for a price. Everything in his world has a price.
One night in his bed.
He’s everything a woman would want, so this should be easy. Only, I’m a virgin, and he terrifies me.
I should run, but I won’t.
I can’t.
I just pray this one night doesn’t destroy us both.

I enjoyed the book, at points I thought the heroine was a bit annoying. Loved Jack though from beginning to end.

I enjoyed the audio of the voices, at point the female one annoyed me but not sure if cause the heroine was annoying me.

Enjoyable audio

I haven’t listened to any Irish mob stories before and I enjoyed this one. It was not too dark compared to other mafia/mob books that I have read before. I actually enjoyed that aspect though. It was dark enough for the mood I was in.

I enjoyed the narrators. I felt like they did a really good job with the accents and making the story come alive.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review.

Mafia Prince, the first instalment in the Young Irish Rebels, is exquisitely penned, cleverly plotted, and gripping. Vi Carter's character development is phenomenal; the realism of the environment, mafia culture, and characteristics of the cast were all spot-on. The main and the secondary characters were multi-layered, flawed, damaged, complex, and totally authentic. Jack and Maeve's relationship with each other was as complicated as the torrent of emotions and thoughts running through them, old wounds, grudges, and misunderstood childhood memories.

Their story was utterly enthralling and sensual, wrapped in suspense, intrigue, and surprising twists and turns. The constant was Jack's trials and his relationship with his father and the rest of the clan. As well as Maeve's relationship with her own broken family and her unshakable loyalty to a heroin addict brother and alcoholic mother. The ending was wholly gratifying, leaving me with a satisfied smile. Moreover, Vi Carter set the grounds for the next book in the series, which can't be recorded fast enough.

The narration was spectacular. Michael Gallagher and Sarah Jane Rose depiction of the characters, personalities, and emotions was flawless. Their Irish accents made the characters even more genuine. Mafia Prince is a very well-written mafia romance with quality narration, one I will highly recommend.
