About this listen

Finalist for the 2023 AUDIE AWARDS® for Fiction

Jodi Picoult is the author of 17 number 1 UK bestsellers. Now with Mad Honey she has joined up with co-author Jennifer Finney Boylan to give us the most compelling, challenging and contemporary novel you will read this year - and which will start conversations we need to have.

Olivia fled her abusive marriage to return to her hometown and take over the family beekeeping business when her son was six. Now Asher is over 6 feet tall and in his last year of high school, a kind, good-looking, popular ice hockey star with a tiny sprite of a new girlfriend who Olivia loves. Then Lily is found with a catastrophic head injury at the bottom of the stairs - and Asher is arrested on a charge of murder. . . What was the truth of their relationship?

Narrators were good and made for easy listening, but neither of the narrators did well when it came to voicing different characters.
The story opened up perfectly, with each character vivid and so well presented to the reader. So all was great; right until the end, which seemed rushed and didn't hang as well as the rest. it rather spoiled the whole thing for me. Although I did see the end coming I expected a far better and believable execution of it.

Great story; disappointing ending

Learnt an awful lot about how a person feels when they’re not who they’re supposed to be plus a lot about bees too.

Really enjoyed this

This book brought me in from the moment it began, and brings the complexities and experiences of a transgender teen to life as she tries to navigate her place in the world. A hugely emotive story that grips you throughout. I hugely recommend this book.
