A match made in hell? Devon and Tanner fight like...well, cats and dogs. Which, to be fair, makes sense since hellcats and hellhounds aren't exactly a match made in heaven. Unfortunately, their demons' antipathy towards each other is matched only by the red-hot sexual tension between Tanner and Devon. Keenan is the mistake Khloe knows she shouldn't make. As an incubus, he's got an inside track into everything that makes her tick, and even though she's immune to his supernatural (and frankly unfair) sex appeal, that doesn't stop her body - and her demon - craving him. If it were any other male she'd have worked it out of her system ages ago and moved on, but this time she's scared that if she ever gives in, she won't escape unscathed.

Summary
Gwen Miller may be a human, but she has no problem taking a stand against her own kind. She's going to testify against the teenage boy she saw viciously assault a lone shifter female - and no amount of pressure from the boy's wealthy family will make her back down. But when the harassment turns violent, help comes in the form of a lean, toned wolf with winter-gray eyes.
As a guest at Gwen's inn, shifter enforcer Zander Devlin can't help but notice that the fierce and leggy brunette is in serious trouble. Since she's putting herself at risk for one of his kind, keeping her safe is the least he can do. That's not the only reason Zander wants her close. He desires her, even as the wolf inside him backs away from her. But his feral instincts are hard to keep down, and as they take shape, they're harder for Gwen to resist. Then again, embracing them could be the only thing that could save her life.

Loved it! (As expected)
I always love Suzanne Wright's books. They are unapologetically bold and sexy. This book is no exception. And I love that each book in the Phoenix Pack and Mercury Pack series allows the reader to revisit with couples from the previous book and experience how the packs develop. It is so easy to commit to the series.
Suzanne Wright and Jill Redfield make a stellar combination. Suzanne writes these incredibly bold paranormal stories with strong opinionated characters and Jill's performances bring them to life.

Got to love wolves!!!
Both the Mercury and Phoenix series has been seriously addictive. Despite the commonalities in each story, the characters have each had an individual story to tell. I tend to skip across the "mating" scenes, once you've read one you've read them all but I still can't get enough from these characters.
Jill Redfield is an amazing narrator and really brings the characters to life.

Usual formula pretty much as I expected
If you are familiar with the Phoenix Pack and Mercury pack books from Suzanne Wright you will know exactly what to expect and are unlikely to be disappointed.
If not don't start here but start with Feral Sins as the books will work better starting at the beginning.
Usual guff - Feisty Damsel needs some help, enter brooding male who just has to help. Both have issues and don't see to start with they are destined for each other, some steamy sex, then the baddies get a bit out of hand plunging all into dire peril - you can guess the rest.
Great literature it isn't but its all good fun, and if you like the formula this is a good listen. Jill Redfield does her normal excellent job. If you like the predecessors in this series you are unlikely to be disappointed with this one.

As great as those that preceded!
I was dumb founded by the negative reviews I read. This book was just as good as the others in the Mercury And Phoenix Pack series. My only complaint is that they don't come out quick enough.
If this is the first that you Are considering, I urge you to start with #1 of the Phoenix Pack. This books have very explicit sex scenes so if that bothers you, pick Another series.

what happened ?
I enjoy ALL Suzanne Wright books, I read them as soon as they're released. I started listening to the audio versions and fell in love with Jill Redfield's performance. I mean the way she does male character voices is pretty freaking great.
That being said - I'm not sure what happened with this one. Her female character sounded so bland and flat, absolutely no personality came through for me. There was really next to no emotion there for me. Also, for some reason, the reading was off too. She was pausing in places that made no sense, like in the middle of a sentence It's possible that maybe they were editing fails as opposed to narrator issues.
The story itself was great. Once again she's switching things around when it comes to the coupling. This was the first time we got a shifter/human mating and that was great. I do wish we'd gotten an inkling of Zander's scent as we have in the past books. As usual, we have a mate almost dying but holy cow, this one was freaking brutal.
Bottom line, I love Jill, I really do, but this was not my favorite rendition of Suzanne's books by her. The story was great, but they're getting a little predictable. Still, I can't wait for the rest of the series.

I love all of this authors books. It doesn't matter how long it's been since I listened to the last book, I can jump right in and not need to remember all the details from the last book. These books are always HOT, funny and full of excitement. I missed some of the characters that were missing from the other books but I enjoyed Gwen and Zander's book, love when a human and shifter are true mates!
I love this narrator but I'll be honest, I think this series needs a little something new. Either a new narrator just to keep the characters different or Jill Redfield needs to add a little more diversity for these characters. Every book in the Phoenix Pack & Mercury Pack sounds the same, especially the Men.

My Thoughts on Lure of Oblivion
This newest addition to the Mercury pack series was a good one. It gives readers a new look at mates with two fantastic leading characters. This gave us a great chance to revisit with beloved characters from previous books. It had an excellent storyline filled with fighting, suspense, emotionally and mentally damaged pasts to overcome and of course love. This book would have been another 5 star winner for me, but some of the pet names Zander had for Gwen were a bit off putting and I felt like a little bit of Gwen's quirky side was reminiscent of Roni, and MaKenna, and Riley. There was enough distinction given to avoid a complete feeling of deja vu, but the random facts spouted (made up or real) or sentences left unfinished and things like that to get under the leading man's skin playfully has been done with a few of the leading ladies now. I love these characters but hope they don't continue to have such similar personalities going forward.
The narrator of this series continues to do excellent work and I love her voice for these characters. I would love to check out more by her in the future.

A bit disappointing...
The story was interesting. Zander, Ally, and a couple of the bad guys were done well, but there was very little other pack interaction., which was a big draw in earlier books. And I just couldn’t get into the heroine. There was no passion there, and it seemed like every sentence contained profanity. Not an issue in any of Wright’s other books, but really overdone here. Gwen just seemed flat. Redfield does a great job with different voices. I am really tired, though, of her females’ nasally whining during sex, which is supposed to indicate a loss of control. Sheesh, who sounds like that?!

Done that, been there.
I liked this story but all the stories in the series are starting to sound the same. I liked the characters but the Phoenix pack is my favorite. I’m not saying that I didn’t like the story, but the humor from the first books is missing and again the stories all have an underlying theme that needs to be changed up a bit or maybe the characters need to be more than the same one done over with only a different name. Unfortunately, I’m still irritated at the Mercury pack for their attitudes in the previous book, that it has soured me on the series as a whole. The only real twist was the ghost part, but that was only a small part of the story. Narrator does a good job.

I hate to say it but this one was the worst I have listened to the Phoenix Pack series and the Mercury Pack series multiple times and loved them but this one was slow and boring. There has always been repetition but mixing that with boringness and I barely finished.

Was hoping for better
The plot of this story has some minor uniqueness while following a very similar plot line. Same ole same ole. If you enjoyed the other books and don’t care if the story is basically the same plot with small differences then you will like this one too. If you’re like me and are getting annoyed with the book deja vue
Then just re listen to one of the other books again and change the names in your head and there you go
I was hoping this time the narration wouldn’t be a clone of the previous books in this series as well as the other series associated with this one. Hoping a change in narration would improve the story line. I was disappointed
Jill Redfield has the ability to do so much more but instead she basically duplicates her performance from all the others in this story arch. Her main male character are interchangeable with the main male character in every other book. The same growling annoying orders in almost identical plots. It’s so tiresome at this point. I wonder if her jaws get tired from all the teeth clenching she does while growling out these male characters.
The females are the same too. Same “snarky” banter that suddenly is so breathy and overcome with passion. Every lead female delivery is with a deadpan sarcastic tone that sounds like every other lead female. Weirdly when they become secondary characters they develop more unique voices.
Basically this book was phoned in. I have to wonder why it takes so long to produce them they are just so repetitive
Don’t waste your credit if you’re hoping for something new
