About this listen

Joining us for the second time in the Audible studios to talk about her latest book, Queen Victoria, is best-selling British author, historian and television presenter Lucy Worsley.

Lucy Worsley has become a household name through our screens as a presenter of history programmes for the BBC and as an author of several best-selling books, including Jane Austen at Home. Beginning her career working for English Heritage before becoming chief curator of Historic Royal Palaces, Lucy Worsley published her latest book, a biography of Queen Victoria, to celebrate the 200th anniversary of her birth.

Lucy Worsley talks to us about our continual fascination with the monarchy, why she loves sharing history so much and how in love Queen Victoria and Prince Albert really were.

I wasn't really into history when I was at school but I saw a documentary about women before and during the reclamation of the monarchy of King Charles and I must admit I got bit of a girl crush, it was so beautifully presented and so informative that I fell in love with the history of women through the ages, not just women from high born but every woman. Lucy worsley made me fall in love with history. I highly recommend her. And I will be purchasing her new book.

I love Lucy!

Awesome, Lucy is such an interesting historian. Her technique is modest and warming.
Highly recommend just a shame it is not longer.

A great overview of one of our most troubled but successful monarchs. I need to check out Lucy's book so she can read to me...
