About this listen

A Reese's Book Club Pick with an unforgettable heroine.

What if you had the winning lottery ticket that would change your life forever, but you couldn't cash it in?

Lucky Armstrong is tough, talented and in real trouble. Having just pulled off a million-dollar heist with her boyfriend, she's preparing to start a brand-new life, complete with new identity, when everything goes sideways. Suddenly Lucky finds herself completely alone, without the help of either her father or her boyfriend, the two figures from whom she's learned the art of the scam.

When Lucky discovers that a lottery ticket she bought on a whim is worth millions, her elation is tempered by one big problem: cashing in the winning ticket means she'll be arrested for her crimes.

As Lucky tries to avoid capture and make a future for herself, she must find a way to confront her own past and learn what it means to be independent and honest...before her luck runs out.

This is an okay book.
I was a little disappointed but it was short and different from my usual genre.

An okay book

I absolutely loved this book for the first two thirds of it but then it all started unraveling a bit. The last part of the book felt rushed, the main character who was supposed to be whip smart just started making stupid decisions that seemed out of character to her whole back story. After an incredible build up, the ending felt rushed and too ‘neat’, everything just tied together quickly and too perfectly, making for unbelievable scenarios which amounted to a Disneyesque ‘and they all lived happily ever after’ ending which just felt unrealistic. A promising start but a disappointing end.

Strong start, rushed ending

After coming off of the 30 hour listen that was 11-22-63 (Stephen King) I was looking for an easy, uncomplicated palate cleanser. Lucky fit the bill perfectly! Nothing taxing, completely implausible, but hey, it’s fiction. It’s escapism. Not a fan of the narrator, but I’m picky. I enjoyed this. It was an extended lifetime movie, a Sunday afternoon or holiday beach read. Enjoy!

Diverting, easy quick read

Couldn’t even finish it. Really bad and irritating narration to top it off. Waste of a credit.
