Summary

We've all heard the story of the Four Horsemen. Harbingers of the apocalypse. Destruction given form. Four of the sexiest - wait no - forget that. You get my point.

So imagine my surprise when I find out everything I've ever been told, is a lie.

But we're getting ahead of ourselves here. Let's start from the beginning.

My name is Ruby Morningstar. I run a tattoo parlor in Portland with my best friend, have a pet raccoon, a crazy ex who stalks me, not to mention this one little thing...I'm a demon. Half-succubus, to be exact. For the last 23 years of my life, that's the story I believed, but on the day a handsome stranger bails me out of jail my world is turned upside down, and suddenly I don't know who I am anymore.

Because the Four Horsemen aren't the bringers of the apocalypse.

I am.

Talk about never catching a break.

Contains mature themes.

A Good Book

A interesting premise and intriguing start for a series.
Okay so I'm not fully taken in with the story just yet but i will be giving book two a chance, however if you're looking for something to grab you from the start this may not be the book for you. A rather easy listen so was good for while completing tasks around the house.

Interesting premise

Didn’t like the narration. Book was okay but could be better written. I enjoyed the premise but feel like it got lost a bit, it felt like the author was trying to force sex into the book. Going to try the next one and see how it is.

Easy listen

Decent premis and characters although would have been good to have a deeper look into the 4 horsemens characters as it was rather surface level and didn't get to know their personalities. book really short and the narration could have been better when portraying the male characters.

I liked it

Short and sweet, the four horsemen were described well and each had its own distinctive style and personality, i could imagine them well while listening to the book. There was humour and a good banter between the characters. The story did not lag, which is always appreciated. Excited to see what happens in the next chapter.

Good enough but way to short

This should have been packaged into a series of books as too short. Feels like we are getting rippes off here. 4 hours! Totally unacceptable. Narrator did a good job.

Good Story but needs dual narration

Great story so far although I wish it were dual narrated. It is hard to keep track of who’s speaking when a lot of the voices sound the same.

no difference between speech and content

I wanted to enjoy this. the woman narrator has no difference in voice from speech to content, doesn't know what a full stop or comma is either unfortunately. I had to give up.

Bland

I was interested in the concept of this story but the writing was a bit flat and so was the narration. I don't care much for Holly Jackson's narration, it's generally hit and miss for me. Her narration for the male character was not good to say the least and the fact there were 4 different characters didn't help. She doesn't emote enough for me. This is a personal choice, other listeners might actually prefer her style. If the writing was good I would have listened more but as it was, I gave up by chapter 7.
