Summary

Plunged into the often indistinguishable realms of fiction, fantasy, and hidden desires, Auden Frost discovers a shifting landscape that will force her to question everything she has believed to be true about herself and the nature of love.

Auden's journey begin's one winter morning when she interviews for a much-needed position as an editor at Palmer Publishing. Haydon Palmer, the powerful young head of the company, offers Auden something far different - something that ultimately forces them both to confront their deepest fears and utmost desires. Unable to resist Hays's challenge and unaware of the charismatic woman's closely guarded secrets, Auden soon finds herself on a path that will transform both their lives.

Excellent Audio!

I loved Love's Masquerade. I have read it several times before. But listening to it was a whole different story. There is quite a bit of sex in the book, both with the main characters and in the manuscripts they write and review. Tastefully and skillfully written by Radclyffe. Great story of Auden and Hays in a publishing house setting. This is one book that was improved by putting it on audio. Paige McKinney does an excellent job with the narration.

One of the best

It took me a while to decide to download this book. There was a less-than-stellar review posted almost as soon as it became available, and that held me back. As you can see by the five stars, I'm glad I took a chance and listened. The narration was wonderful, and while yes, it was a little confusing to have to differentiate between "real life" and a reading (maybe less so in the written version?), I think that was sort of the point...

Out of all the Radclyffe books I've read, this is now one of my favorites. My only problem with the story was the fact that it dealt with a difficult issue that hit a little too close to home...but of course, that's a very personal thing.

One of Rad's Best Books!

This is one of my favorite books by Radclyffe, I've about read them all. I really hate to give a bad review of anything, but have to say the narrator for this book is awful, not a good fit at all. She sounds better suited for a Disney book or Dr. Seuss. With an incessant up lilting voice and total lack of the deep emotional sounding voice that is required of this book. When the main characters finally sleep together for the first time her choppy robocall voice didn't do it justice. Narrator Nicol Zanzarella or a vocal expressionist equivalent would have been a godsend.

Poor Narration

This is the second book I have listened to that Paige McKinney has narrated and it lacks appropriate change in tone. The narration definitely takes away from the purpose of listening to a book. I will no longer purchase books narrator by her, instead I will buy the book.

Another case of narrator killing a good story

so annoyed with myself for letting myself buy a book because I love Redclyffe writing and ignoring the reviews on the narration. The narrator was out of touch with the story and the characters. no one speak like that in real life. the reading is super slow as if she struggles with the English. Bummer!!!!!

The best so far!

I've read at least 20 of Radclyffe's books, including all of the serires' and 20 or more similar authors, and this was the best. Full of passion, romance, abiding love... Loved it!

Great listen, but some technical issues.

I really liked the story and characters. My only problem with the audio book was that there were a number of areas where it would skip backward 20-40 seconds and replay. Almost like a skipping record (for those of us old enough to remember that.)

An Exquisite Story

Wow! This is another side of Radclyffe! What a deep moving story! This is aspect of this writer that was down right different! It was slow and deliberate and very deep! Love it, Love it! A deep insight into the characters and a look at mortality from a lesbian aspect! And I learned about lesbian writers and how they write and what inspires them! Wow so lovely a book and the reader was spot on!! Go get this book — you won’t be sorry!!

Never disappointed

When you get a Radclyffe book you know that it will be amazing, I am little bored with the series and enjoy the stand alone books much more.
This book was amazing great story great characters. I will probably go back to it after a while.
The narration was not as good, it was not bad, and for a change this narrator does not fly through the story, she is in fact a little to slow. She is a little monotonous.
In any case I gave her 5 stars because all in all she did a great job narrating this book.
You just need to get used to the paste she reads through and than relax and enjoy, because there is so much to enjoy...
