Everyone adores Christmas. Especially Lizzy Kingham. But this year, she is feeling unloved, and under-appreciated by her family. The present-buying, decorating, and food shopping have all been left to her. So she wonders what would happen if she ran away and left them to it. Lizzy heads to her favourite place: a beach hut on the golden sands of Everdene. There, she meets an unlikely collection of new friends, all running away from something. Good story but let itself down in places
Any additional comments?
I like Veronica Henry's books, they are light but fun, always with a good mix of reasonably believable characters. This is no exception, and actually has more twists and turns than usual. Several different strands interweaving into the main story, some of them - like the effect of Joe's death on his mother - really well done. The ending is signalled fairly clearly a few chapters beforehand but that doesn't really detract from it and Jilly Bond reads it well. So far, so good.
What let it down for me were the graphic sex descriptions that suddenly appear without reason or warning and were a bit disconcerting when driving! Books come in all different types; in some graphic descriptions are part and parcel of the oeuvre and I've no problem with that. But in this one, they are plonked in awkwardly almost as if some Agent has said to her "good writing, but spice the next one up to increase sales will you?" Veronica, don't take any notice of the marketing people next time. Your books are fine as they are.

I simply love this story and Jilly Bond is an excellent reader, with lots of different "voices". The story is unusual and amusing and the writer creates beautiful pictures in the head, her descriptions are so good. I wonder what other books she has written.

Thoroughly enjoyable
What made the experience of listening to Love on the Rocks the most enjoyable?
An interesting intricately woven yarn, that ended up very satisfactorily. A pleasure to listen to.
What does Jilly Bond bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
An easy voice to listen to that suited the story line.

Don't bother....
Trash. Ridiculous story, disjointed, too far fetched, appalling narration. Put the sound on 80 to cope with this, absolutely awful... If you like Mills and boon, don't buy, it's worse.
No nice feel good factor from this, a mish mash iof characters, most of them detestable.
The worst of this author, I've read two, loved them. Not this rubbish.
