Summary

Quinn established her place in the world by doing everything by the book. She married young, had a beautiful daughter, and excelled at her career. But what she didn't count on was a cheating husband, a nasty divorce, and being left on her own for the first time in her life.

Brett, on the other hand, has the world by the tail with his perfect bachelor's life. He has an Upper East Side apartment, a thriving business of his own, and several admirers after a quickie divorce leaves him single once more. But to his nosy yet loving mother, a man of his age and stature should have married again by now.

When a chance encounter leaves both divorcees needing one another, they agree on a sexy deal that takes them all the way to Malibu. She's looking for sex. Him, a fiancée. But when the "friends with benefits" line becomes blurred, they each have a choice to make: give in to the love or find solace elsewhere.

a very sweet second chance romance

I really Love this story for so many reasons one of them being the characters if that were very down-to-earth and very relatable to the average person. This story are two characters who are looking for a second chance at love both in different ways who both been hurt in the past. The where they came together was great because it's not what you would normally see in the other books which I very much enjoyed. The ending to the story was also just the sweetest way I think to end it. As for the narration of the story I think she did a great job with the characters making them different yet very relatable. I thought she did a very great job making it an easy listen.

Relatable

I think the characters in the story were very well written and relatable. There were a few times that I actually thought that the story was going to have a different ending than it really does. Overall, I thought it was super cute and I was happy with how it turned out.

The narrator gives a great performance. I was really pleased that she represented the characters well as we go through a little bit of a roller coaster with our emotions.

very emotional and realistic story

this was a very well written story of trying to find love after divorce. Serious emotional roller coaster with exceptional supporting characters who help to make an otherwise unrelenting back and forth between Quinn and Sepncer. Totally realistic (though her rules may annoy you) and I found so much that related to stories of friends who had gone through this expirience. Narrated pretty well by Kiera Stevens.

Love and Giraffes

Quinn and Brett, both divorcees, meet by chance and need something from the other. Brett needs a fake fiance and Quinn wants a "friends with benefits" situation that focuses more on the " benefits" than friendship. I thought that the story had good potential going in and was excited to see how it panned out. The story fell flat for me. With all of the rules and restrictions that Quinn tried to put on the relationship I didn't really feel a connection between the two. Overall I thought it was an ok story and the narration helped move the story along.

Sweet Love

Sweet story of how you find love when you are not looking. Quinn is looking for a sex buddy because she has been hurt and is afraid of getting into another relationship. She propositions Brett and ends of finding more than what she thought she wanted and needed. Can she trust in her new found love or will she go back to something that she knows is bad for her.

Hooked

This story is different, has a different path to he’s. It keeps you hooked because you want to make sure they get back together. If listening on your phone, make sure you are far enough away from it so you don’t throw it down in frustration. All in all, a story that gets you to think, to analyze and understand how two characters could finally get it right.

Great and realistic story

This was my first time listening to both the author and narrator and I really enjoyed them both. Both of the characters were really relatable and I found their struggles to be really representative the average person and it was a nice change of pace. They really worked for their happily ever after and I was so glad to see it finally come.

I really enjoyed this book. This is my first time reading Jamie W. Powell. I really enjoyed it. The characters where very relatable. Keira Stevens did a good job with narrating. My only suggestion would be that there be a difference in her voice between Brett and Quinn.

Easy on the Ears

Such an easy listen. Jaime W Powell wrote a beautiful contemporary romance which gives a great look at the frustrations and complex musings of the heart. It shows how love and loss can make us act unchareceristically and how emotional connections can make for bad decisions. The characters were strong and well written and Keira Stevens narrated nicely, together creating wonderful characterisation.

Feel good romance with humor

🎧Audiobook Obsession

First Jaime Powell book and it won't be my last. It had an unconventional start but their budding friendship is what I loved. This was a well developed and relatable novel. I loved that there was laugh out loud moments. This was a new to me narrator and she was ok for the most part, except her Male voices wasn't that good. If you're looking for a sweet contemporary romance then this book is for you.

When fake relationships get a little too real.

3.5 stars

I wanted to absolutely love this book, and it did have some really good things going on, but I struggled to connect.

I loved that Quinn was ready to take charge and go after what she wanted even if it took her a while to figure out exactly what she really did want. And I loved that Brett was so sweet. He could see beyond Quinn's low expectations to the possibilities of what they could become.

At times, it seemed like there was a lot going on. This took away a bit from the main story and made it a bit less believable.

The narration was well done as far as the pacing, pronunciation, and diction. However, it lacked the emotion of the story.

cute title

Love and Giraffes was the first time I read this author or listened to this narrator. It was a sweet love story that took the characters from strangers (both newly divorced) to considering a bedroom-only relationship, then to falling in love in a two week time span. For me personally, I had a hard time connecting with the characters. Quinn drove me a little crazy going back and forth between Brett, and her ex, and her friend that was in love with her -- I feel that possibly drama was created just to be there but didn't add a lot to the overall story.
Some of the phrases used seemed a little too "old-fashioned" and not realistic for two people in today's world that are in their 30s.
The narration was pretty good -- like another person commented, I really had to pay attention to who's chapter it was as I had a hard time distinguishing between her character voices. But the pace was good, as was the inflection.
Overall, I'm not sure it was my cup of tea but the quality was good.

Enjoyable

This was an enjoyable romance. Quinn and Brett are both divorced and have agreed to become friends with benefits after meeting at a speed dating event. Their relationship isn’t quite so simple however and things get complicated. There were some funny parts as well as serious parts to this story. It was an enjoyable and easy listen. Keira Stevens did a fairly good job with the narration. Unfortunately it was difficult at times to differentiate between voices and her male voices were poor or nonexistent most of the time, however I still enjoyed listening to the story.

Does friends with benefits ever work

I really enjoyed this book. It was a sweet second chance at love story. When friends with benefits begin to fall for each other what will they decide to do next. I felt this was done realistically and loved the connection between the characters.

Sweet and realistic love

This was the first book I have read or listened to by this author and it was quite good. You could feel the emotions Quinn and Brett were going through. I loved Quinn’s not so ordinary rules. It was truly entertaining and enjoyable.

This was also my first book narrated by this narrator. I thought she did a good job overall bringing the characters to life. My only real criticism is that it was sometimes difficult to know which character was speaking as there isn’t much difference between the male voice and female voice used.

Second Chance Romance

This was a good contemporary romance with a HEA! The story starts off when two divorcees meet at a speed dating event because of their best friends. Brett is a bachelor and Quinn’s a single mother. Quinn is afraid to love and trust again and wants a “friends with benefits” relationship while Brett just wants his family off of his back. They go on a vacation with his family as fake fiancés while their real connection grows. I found the characters realistic and I loved seeing their fake relationship grow into a real one throughout the book.
Keira did a good job with this narration. She spoke at a steady pace and her voice was very easy to listen to. I wish she could have used more distinguished voices for each character so it would have been easier to tell Brett and Quinn apart.

All the feels

An adorable love story of heart ache, second chances, family and trust.
It was Ana adorable way to read about things that may come when following your instincts and letting your heart guide you.

The story was full of everything you want and told perfectly by the narrator.
