Shortlisted, Comedy Women in Print Prize
Yasmin Ghorami has a lot to be grateful for: a loving family, a fledgling career in medicine and a charming, handsome fiancé, fellow doctor Joe Sangster. But now the moment she has been dreading has arrived: it is time for her family to meet Joe's firebrand feminist mother.

Really Something Different
This was for me a fascinating insight into different lives. Beautifully crafted. I felt at last I could understand more clearly the lives, personalities and desires of people whose humanity was inclusive.

Excellent, entertaining, contemporary
Really great read which tells a fascinating tale of the quagmire of contemporary life. As always, Monica Ali expertly blends humour with pathos and narrator Ayesha Dharker delivers it all with flair.

Okay, too rambling
Zoned out a lot during it as story didn't seem to go anywhere, but at points was quite entertaining.

Bloody brilliant
This grabbed me immediately , and had me lingering in the car to listen to more, felt that the characters were very real , got the different voices convincingly, characters that could in less skilful hands have been caricatures were nuanced , human , virtues and flaws and they all behaved in ways that were believable (almost )
The narration was superb ,enhanced the experience , fabulous , will be recommending widely xx

Long story for nothing.
Story is boring and not exiting. Waste of time for me. Sorry. But Ayesha Dharker's performance is perfect.

Got better and better
This is very much a story about family, expectations and how people’s feelings evolve in a relationship (from family relationships to romantic ones). Told from the perspective of a Muslim immigrant family and their white British friends, prejudices are explored and challenged as the characters go on journeys of self discovery.
I enjoyed the first half but wasn’t totally drawn in. Then as it progressed I was totally absorbed by the characters and their predicaments and their personal changes and developments, and indeed my own opinions of the characters changed and deepened as the book progressed.
Brilliantly narrated.

Not as good as Brick Lane
Definitely not as good as Brick Lane. The storyline in Love Marriage is somewhat interesting but predictable. The story drags on and has many unnecessary repetitions.

Brilliant
This is not for someone looking for a thriller- it is a sensitive journey through the life of a family. Lots of surprises and thrilling moments. I just loved it and learnt so much through the lives of the characters.

Entrancing story of complex relationships
Clever story following the gradual discovery of different characters about themselves and about each other. Wonderful descriptions, beautifully read.
It was our book club’s choice this month and it provided a huge wealth of topics to discuss.
