Summary

Born and raised in Cherry Creek, Edmund Fitzgerald was the sort of man who tried to find the good in all things. As a natural leader, Fitz reclaimed his trauma after half his body burned in a fire and worked his way up to fire chief at the local department. He had a good home and good friends, even if his romantic life left something to be desired. In spite of his bad luck in love, he managed to keep a cheerful smile on for everyone. At least, until Antoine Tremblay crashed into town.

Literally.

As the older twin with absent parents and a chip on his shoulder, Antoine and his brother grew up nomadic - the inconvenient offspring of traveling teachers who wanted nothing more than to spend their lives seeing the world. While his friends were dreaming of road trips, Antoine was dreaming of a home to call his own.

Retreating into his consulting career, Antoine dedicates his life to stabilizing small-town economies and doesn’t hesitate to take a job in Cherry Creek - a town that makes it very clear it doesn’t want Antoine there. Before he even crosses the city limits, Antoine is run off the road by a wild goat, and he’s forced to accept a rescue by a wary man who makes it very clear that Antoine’s presence in Cherry Creek is not welcome.

And what’s worse, the ridiculously attractive, absolutely infuriating fire chief seems to be at the center of every single one of his disasters that happens after - and unfortunately there are many. All Antoine wants is to do his job and go home, but Cherry Creek seems to have it in for him, and Edmund Fitzgerald seems thrilled to watch him fall apart. It might be real hatred, or it might just be pigtail pulling, but Antoine isn’t sure which, and he’s not really sure he wants to know. After all, a place like Cherry Creek will never be his home.

Fitz has never found someone worth fighting for, and Antoine has never found a reason to stay, but they know that looking at each other leaves them absolutely breathless. Will that be enough to make a relationship work, or will they decide that their love isn’t worth the fight?

Love Him Breathless is the second book in the series On the Market. It contains no cheating and a happily ever after.

Poor Antoine

Poor Antoine couldn’t catch a break; if he wasn’t crashing his car, he was getting knocked over or nearly drowning.

Fitz and Antoine got off on the wrong foot. I enjoyed their crazy banter and the way fate kept bringing them together.

Fitz’s friends made me laugh especially, the story involving the prosthesis arm and a very embarrassing trip to the hospital.

Narrator’s performance was exceptional.

A unlikely couple 💙💚

Fritz was badly burned as a teenager. He came out strong and determined as the Fire department Chief in Cherry Creek. Antoine comes in from the city with the task to help the town to be noticed. He has so many accidents where Fritz came to save him, it wasn’t even funny. I enjoyed that and that they never gave up. They were not conventional at all. Fritz friends were awesome too. Lovely story with an awesome narrator.

Fun story

I enjoyed the characters, they started out with quite the prickly relationship. The way they kept getting thrown together until they stuck together was amusing. By the end I liked their dynamic together. Fun story set in a quirky fun town with quite the cast of characters populating the area.

Love and Fighting go hand in hand

When Antoine goes to Cherry Creek, he expects it to be like every other job he's taken. He doesn't expect to find Fitz. Doesn't expect to feel things for the fire chief. He doesn't expect to have found the place where he wants to stay.

Fitz has proven over and over that he's stronger than whatever life throws at him. He's been fighting his whole life and now has the life that he wants, even if it's lacking the love his best friends have. When Antonie gets to town, he hates everything the man represents, until he looks deeper and sees something in him worth fighting for.

E.M. Lindesy is a brilliant author who shows that imperfect characters deserve just as much love as "perfect" ones, they don't shy away from the hard things, and it's so great to read about characters who fight for the life and love they want.

Nick Hudson does a great job at bringing these characters to life and making up feel and fall in love right alongside them.

Love Him Breathless - good listen

I enjoyed this listen. Nick Hudson once again did very well with the narration. I listened to the first audiobook and still was a tad confused by the characters. I can't remember if I noted in that review or not. Either way, it was a bit of a distraction. Otherwise, the characters were well written and the story interesting. I'd recommend.

Good story

It was a really intense and sad story at the start. The main character had so much growth and interesting quirks. I liked the way EM Denning grew the story and the romance was adorably tender.

The plot was sweet and angsty and always interesting.

The narration was alright. Some parts better than others.

really enjoyable enemies to lovers story

This was an enjoyable enemies to lovers story. It's dislike at first sight for Fitz and Antoine. Antoine is in Cherry Creek to give the town's image a revamp and fire chief Fitz tries so hard to keep him at arms length. Despite a few mishaps, Antoine begins to fall in love, not just with Cherry Creek but also with the grumpy firefighter. I also loved catching glimpses of the some of the other characters who have their own books but cameo in Fitz and Antoine's story.

A delightful listen

Fitz and Antoine gave me plenty of fits in this book. I found myself laughing, crying, and all around hanging on the edge of my seat listening to this story. Hudson's narration drew me in and I could not put my headphones down.

Good enemies to lovers romance

On the Market has become an enjoyable series set in the small town of Cherry Creek. Whilst still interacting with already established couples, we now get to meet and have the HEA for other members of the community and the new people who come into town.
Fitz has lived there all his life and is now the Fire Chief at the local firehouse. Half of his body may be covered in burns from a trauma in his teens but he doesn't let that hold him back. Completely opposite is Antoine who lived his life moving constantly around the world. He struggles with relationships and when he comes to town to help sort the town's tourism gets off to the worst of starts thanks to a wandering goat and Fitz who is the first responder,
They get off on the wrong foot from the start and are constantly antagonising each other, maybe Fitz more so than Antoine but it makes for a very entertaining relationship that goes hand in hand with how often Antoine finds himself in a situation that requires medical attention. You can sense the attraction between them but both are reluctant for their own reasons, neither having great history regarding romance. Elsewhere, Antoine makes friends with quite a few residents around town, all seeing how much work he's putting in to helping their town.
This is a really good slow burn romance that flows well throughout the story and comes together nicely for the MC's at the end. I look forward to more from this series and need to go back and find out more on the original series on Cherry Creek.
Nick has again done a great job of narrating an EM Lindsey story. There is one or two accents that were just a little off for me but they were small, side characters and didn't detract my enjoyment of the banter back and forth between the MC's and their determination to not give in to their attraction.

Perfect in audio!

Ahhh so much love for this one! This series is shaping up to be one of my absolute favorites. Since Marcel’s book was one of my favorite stories Lindsey has ever written, I was a little worried that Antoine wouldn’t be able to redeem himself, but oh boy was I wrong. Right from the get go he acknowledges that it’s his own issues that caused all the tension between the two and so I was able to embrace him with a clean slate. And then he went to Cherry Creek and the small town magic happened. I’ve said it before, but it takes a lot for me to like an enemies to lovers story, I just don’t usually find them believable. But it so worked here. Even as they were falling for each other, they weren’t sugary sweet with each other, and I loved them for it that much more. Fitz was a stand out in the previous book in the series, so I knew I’d like his story, but I absolutely loved the way it was done. 10/10 would recommend! Nick Hudson is able to add an extra layer to this story that you definitely don't want to miss!
