Summary
It all started with a spell. Arran Conall lives with the consequences of his foolishness daily, his mistakes guiding him into darkness. He had no way to know that his beloved would fall prey to the ancient magic that awaited Blaire on the day he sent her away to marry his brother. Now, the only woman to ever give pause to his philandering ways lives centuries ahead of him, out of reach while still holding on to his heart. Now, he must try to live a life without her and marries another to save the lass from a greedy suitor who only wants to lay title to her father's territory.
His love for Blaire haunts him. With every breath, he prays only one thing- that she will be able to feel his love for her across the chasms of time.
Born in the 17th century, Blaire MacChristy lives each day trying to adjust to the challenges of modern-day life. Magic brought her here, but heartbreak keeps her from using the magic to travel back to her home. When visitors from her past arrive asking her to return to the life she knew before, Blaire takes a chance on love. Once home, she is shocked to learn that the man she loves has married another. Will fate find a way to mend their broken hearts by bringing them together once again? Even if it does, will they be able to stop the darkness that is coming for them both?

Enjoyable Time-Travel Series ;-)
I enjoyed this second book in the series just as much as the first. The story is light, fun, and easy to follow. It was predictable at times but it never took away from the likable characters and entertaining story. Narration was also very good.
(My two cents: It seems. whenever there is a new time-travel romance series, it somehow always gets compared to "Outlander". Comparison is fine when the two books are similar but when the only similarity is time-travel then it is quite unfair. Outlander is a detailed historical, adventure, time-travel romance, whereas this time-travel series is light, fun with a bit of mystery. I just wish everyone would try not to compare and treat each novel individually otherwise you might as well keep re-reading any standard of comparison because nothing will ever measure up. Just my opinion. Lol!)
I will be listening to the others in the series as they become available. ;-)

Scottish outmeal... a whole lot of mush
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Those who are into very flowery, sentimental, romances, and have never experienced the wonderful in-depth character and storyline building of Diana Gabaldon in her Outlander series.
What could Bethany Claire have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
This storyline had great opportunities for interesting, comical and enderaring moments, as her 17th century vistors were emersed in the 21st century. That's why I bought the second book, after not enjoying the first. The opportunitiy was completely blown. The storyline was rushed, not allowed the time to develop. Yet, there was a massive amount of time spent on the mushy" stuff (it felt like 90%). She could have taken the time to demonstrate through narrative, pertintent and personable dialog, the character and relationships of her protagonists and foregone all the gushing.
Also, I dont think that in a POV narrative, a person would ever refer to "my porcelain skin"...it's SO conceited. It's just too awkward, out of place, and off putting. If the author wants to bring out those characteristics, there are better ways to do it.
I don't even know what to say about the villians in this book. ugh!
How could the performance have been better?
Hire a good director and a speech coach. The scottish accents and cadence were excruciating. And, the characters were overacted.

Not her best work
This sequel is okay, a bit more fluff and filler than I like and definitely more than the first book. I found myself fast forwarding pretty often. I really enjoyed the first book and was a little disappointed in this one by comparison. The narrator does a fantastic job.

Morna shows love has no boundary
What did you love best about Love Beyond Reason: A Scottish, Time-Traveling Romance?
The easy way Morna is. That she makes every person she encounters feel important to the situation.
What other book might you compare Love Beyond Reason: A Scottish, Time-Traveling Romance to and why?
There are several of them. The magnitude of compassion, love and fiery tempers especially in the scottish romances. The different ways each author writes, give one a different perspective and appreciate what they are reading even more.
What about Lily Collingwood’s performance did you like?
The way she could move back and forth between characters with ease.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes I did, but life had other ideas.
Any additional comments?
Looking forward to her other books

Slightly better at poorly written soap opera
I get the narrator credit for trying different accents but Scotts accent came off sounding more Irish. The story was weak and not enough believable background to make this fantasy of time travel plausible. Even some of the historical details were inaccurate.

Light & fun read
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. It is an enjoyable romance with a time travel twist.
What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed the resolution of story lines from the first book. Who doesn't love a happy ending?
Which character – as performed by Lily Collingwood – was your favorite?
I think my favorite character performance is Blair. Ms. Collingwood does a good job of maintaining the language and accent.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
How can souls centuries apart find their way to each other?
Any additional comments?
This is a light fun read, with a time travel twist. The storyline is somewhat predictable, but still enjoyable to see how everything turns out!
