Summary

What happens when frenemies take the experiment out of the lab and into the bedroom?

Corban Nash is a self-proclaimed data nerd with a sexy half smile and a set of abs that leave girls drooling. He developed a theory he claims will make two people fall in love. And after numerous tests on friends and family, it’s been successful for everyone who’s tried it.

The problem is, it’s never worked on him. And he doesn’t know why.

Still, he’s determined to prove his theory. The only thing standing in his way? His nemesis, Hazel Kiegen.

Hazel refuses to be distracted by Corban’s adorable awkwardness or his temptingly muscular body. He claims to have cracked the code to falling in love, and she’s going to prove him wrong.

From the moment these two rivals meet, their chemistry is irresistible. And what’s wrong with a little sex between enemies? But when they put Corban’s theory to the test for themselves, the results are deliciously unexpected.

Author’s note: Stand-alone romcom featuring a sexy nerd with a great big...heart. Tons of tension and witty banter. Super hot frenemies with benefits. Badass lady friendships with a widening circle of trust. And a romantic HEA that will leave you swooning.

Crazy hot story and fab narration!

I adore a hot nerd! Corban and Hazel were ABSOLUTELY adorable and CRAZY HOT together! Loved this story so much!
Stephen Dexter and Virginia Rose were perfect for these roles of two awkward enemy-nerds falling in love. They really brought the characters to life and made me fall in love with them all over again (I read this story on Kindle in Jan 2020). They showcased the scorching chemistry between the two main characters, how clearly they were suited to each other and how well they understood each other - like no one else in their lives. Dexter did really well in bringing out Corban's alpha, animalistic instincts. This audio made me laugh, swoon and pant just a little bit! Such a fabulous listen!

Corban is surprised when making a speech at the college he meets Hazel.
Her argument about his dating app invention reminds him of the woman who has been challenging him on line.
Hazel isn't convinced Corban is right with his research and data.
I loved the story the determination of Hazel and Corban to prove they are right.
The strong friendship between Hazel and her friends all part of the dirty Martini club.
The narrators totally brought the story to life.

Hazel and Corban ♥️

I absolutely adored Corban and Hazel! They are both such beautiful souls and so perfect for each other. Starting off as enemies, Hazel is not a fan of Corban’s scientifically unproven research but when the College she works for hires Corban to work on a project, Hazel will have to collaborate with him. Corban, who invented the algorithm that powers the world’s most popular dating app and an intimacy questionnaire that all but guarantees a happily ever after, is questioning his own ability to find a love match to share his life with. A bit forgetful, always blabbering random animal facts when nervous, he can be lost in his own world. The story line is so captivating and beautifully build, you cannot not fall in love with all the characters. They jump off of a page into your head and you see their story play out in vivid colors. There are so many exciting “cameos” in Love According to Science. I laughed and I cried; there is so much emotion, swoon, steam, and hilarious banter, yet the protagonists’ developing feelings are portrayed with such vulnerability.
The narration by Steven Dexter and Virginia Rose is absolute perfection. This is a definite MUST listen/read!

My Penguin

Overall 4 stars
Performance 4.5 stars
Story 4 stars

Claire Kingsley always manages to take a well loved trope and give it her own unique twist. This enemies to lovers/forced proximity romance was so fun and just what I needed. I loved that Corban and Hazel weren't the typical romance hero and heroine. They were both adorkably nerdy and every random animal fact that Corban rattled off only endeared him to me more. Their back and forth really ramped up the anticipation and I never knew a copy room could be so sexy. ;) Yes, there were a few missteps along the way and some misunderstandings too, but overall there wasn't too much angst in this one. The epilogue (and bonus epilogue) left my heart feeling all warm and gooey and I loved the Easter eggs and nods to the Book Boyfriend and Miles Family series too.

Stephen Dexter and Virginia Rose were wonderful as Corban and Hazel. They gave such enthusiastic and emotional performances. I didn't have any issues differentiating between the characters and they both narrate male and female voices very well. I can't wait to continue on with this series!

Nerd love? Haha.

I love the audio narrators! They were very good!!!! Oh, the cover and the summary triggered me. Then again, I did read the 1st book of the series and figured to continue the series. Corban Nash and Hazel Kiegen are quite intelligent and time to time, self- cautious & insecure about themselves but in any case, together, they seem to like each other’s uniqueness & quirky ways. Overall, it was a 3 stars for me. I couldn’t help how silly the games they play with each other- 6 years old behavior antics, kind of deal. It was quite enjoyable, giggles every now and then, predictable and fluffy story plot! The characters do grow on you. To be honest, if you watch “Big Bang Theory” Show, it had that type of vibe. The nerds, however, are described attractive, though. Why not? Anyways, perhaps, it’s best to have that type of mindset once you read this book.

Audio Gold

Oh my word!!! This book is on my top reads of the year. Corban and Hazel are so perfect together. There’s so many things that are right with this book. It’s enemies to lovers, which is one of my favorite tropes. It has unwanted attraction and hate sex. The enemies to lovers aspect creates a hero that is a grumpy, hot nerd that is also a dirty talker. It’s like he was made just for me. Hazel is a nerdy girl, but she’s still very sociable with her friends. Plus, you get glimpses of so many other characters from this author’s books. I managed to still love a paisley print. The female camaraderie is great. A lot of books have bromances, which I love, but this was definitely nice.
Narration was perfection! Often I like either the male or the female, but both were fantastic.

Even better in audio

This was a great story to begin with, but getting to listen to it is even better. The awkwardness and banter of Hazel and Corbin really gets a chance to shine with these narrators.

Story review: This was such a cute read about two awkward nerds. I love the random facts they would spout then banter about. Hazel came across as a bit irrationally angry at first and Corban’s first shot was really immature but they developed so well together into a good match.

Loved Hazel and Corbin's rom-com!

I read this book first, and I could not wait for the audiobook to be released. I'm such a fan of Claire Kingsley's writing, and the casting of Virginia Rose as Hazel and Stephen Dexter as Corbin is just spot-on. Virginia really embodied Hazel's quirkiness, and she made the journey from skeptical and doubting to considering and observing, to trusting, loving and accepting beautifully. You really could hear Hazel change as her emotional journey went on. Stephen Dexter is also a great Corbin Nash. Corbin in self-deprecating, feels like a misfit, and thinks love can't find him because he's somehow defective. But he recognizes a kindred spirit in Hazel, and they find their way to being each other's true counterpart.

Claire Kingsley provided a well-written, fun, emotional and entertaining rom-com to start, and the narrating team of Virginia Rose and Stephen Dexter really brought it to life in such an amazing fashion. I could not imagine better casting for Hazel and Corbin. A perfect, fun, laugh-out-loud listen.

Disappointing

Another disappointing “romance” book. A well-written story about an interesting relationship seems to be impossible for American writers. This one is flat, silly (not in a comical way), and plotless. Will be returning.

Charmingly awkward romantic comedy

I absolutely loved this enemies to lovers stories. Hazel and Corban are charmingly awkward and hot as rivals who are forced to work together on a project. It's hate at first sight but the underlying attraction makes it hard for them to focus and they discover they are more alike than they originally thought. Their chemistry is off the charts and the banter is delightfully fun. Stephen Dexter's and Virginia Rose's narrations of Hazel and Corban are perfection. I think I loved listening to them bring the story to life more than I loved reading the actual book.
