Summary

In de dierentuin wordt een nijlpaardje geboren en dat is natuurlijk heel bijzonder. Lotje vindt het prachtig. Echt spannend wordt het wanneer een klein meisje de leeuwenkooi binnenwandelt en rustig de leeuw gaat aaien. Lotjes vader en oom Nijltje zijn erg dapper en redden haar.

Op een dag ontsnappen er twee chimpansees uit het apenverblijf. Wat de oppassers en Lotjes vader ook proberen, de apen krijgen ze niet te pakken. De chimpansees halen allerlei streken uit. Dan bedenkt Lotjes broer Joost een slim plan. Zou het lukken om de dieren te vangen?
