Summary

Moving back home to my parents' cattle ranch in Texas was the last thing I thought I'd be doing. But, here I stand...in front of my high school girlfriend. A beautiful, confident woman has replaced the young girl I once knew and loved. Hell. I'm still in love with her.

Yep. Paxton Monroe was my first love and the one girl in town who now hated my guts. So much so, Paxton swore her revenge on me if it took her until the day she died. The last words she spoke to me were a vow to cut my dick off and shove it down my throat. The fight between my heart, my head, and last, but certainly not least, my dick starts tonight. Because all I can think about is how I want to be buried so deep inside Paxton she won't remember how I broke her heart, or how I left her when she needed me the most. But who will win? My heart is too broken to listen to my head. And my dick, yeah it's not listening to anything or anyone. Not until it gets what it wants and what it wants is Paxton Monroe.

Lost Love is book one in the Cowboys and Angels series.

Not as invested in this series

I have to be honest and admit that although I love a lot of Kelly’s books, I did struggle to fully enjoy this one. All of Kelly’s books have a lot of adult content but I found this one to be over the top and quite crude at times. The main male character Steed seemed to win over Paxton to forgive him very quickly and he was very crude or at least to me. All of Kelly’s characters talk about sex and all books have sexual content but I felt this one was over the top. I’m not sure I can continue the series incase the whole series is like this. I did enjoy the story line where the little girl gets the mother figure and I always love a HEA but this story felt as if everything happened perfectly for them and very fast. Kelly Elliott has written so many excellent books and series so I would recommend them and if you like quite crude talk then give this one a go.

I loved it.

I cried. I laughed. I swooned. I thought this book was, .....not only a great story, but a great segway into stories on the other siblings. There was just enough story about each of them to create interest and motivation to continue on to the next book.

Loved the story

Wow, I have no words to express how much I loved Lost Love, the first book in the Cowboys & Angels series by Kelly Elliott and narrated by Joe Hempel and Lauren Sweet who were both new to me. What a great start to her new series, this book had it all. My heart just about broke for Paxton and at times I feared she would never recover. Enter Steed Parker, the love of her life and the man that hurt her beyond measure. Lost Love is a second chance at love and what a spectacular love story it is. I fell in love with all the characters in this book, particularly Chloe, who throughout the book made my heart melt and really stole the show. What a courageous and beautiful little girl and her dad Steed, isn't too bad either. This was one of those books I wanted to take slowly to savour the story and yet I found myself riveted as I listened well into the night until suddenly I had finished it. I loved the banter between Steed and his brothers and sisters; their scenes together made for some snort worthy moments throughout the book. Lost Love deals with some serious heartache, but it also shows how determination, forgiveness, love and hope can overcome such tragedy and make a difference. The narrators did a great job throughout the book and made the story even more enjoyable to listen too. They certainly tugged at my emotions as they narrated the book and did justice to the story. This will not be the last time I listen to Joe Hempel and Lauren Sweet

i hate it (spoiler alert)

(Spoiler alert)... .. i didnt finish this book when i heard she got pregnant then lost the baby and he was happy about it then he left for 10 years and then got married and had a little girl that she has to teach his kid, hell no. she had do deal with the loss of her baby all by herself. i couldn't forgive that no sorry in the world would make me forgive him and if i did forgive him i would never forget. he left for 10 years and never asked about her. i would never get passed that, never. it feels cold hearted. I know it would be like pouring salt in a wound i love kids but i couldn't teach his it would drive me crazy with sadness. in real life i think 95% of women would not forget that. wow this book really makes me so mad and sad for the h.

Good story; terrible narration

Enjoyable HEA ranch romance with solid plot and character development. Considerable explicit sexual content which at times interferes with the flow of the story. The narration was so bad I resorted to listening at 1.25-1.5 to mitigate the constant slow breathiness of the female voice and a male voice with tone and pace reminiscent of a eulogy.

Couldn't get over the storyline

It was just so bland. 10 years apart and becoming an adult had no impact on the characters except for having a daughter. I could not bring myself to finish this book. I quit after chapter 18. To me the entirety was just too cringeworthy....

Second Chance Romance

This was a great second chance romance. I loved the storyline, pacing, and characters. Dual narrative was really good! I can’t wait to continue the series!

Omg!!

This book was not what I expected. I had it sitting in my library forever then accidentally purchased it and boy was I surprised. I cried from the beginning to the end but it was oh so beautiful. The emotion in the narrators voices is what really did it for me. I absolutely LOOOOOVEEE this book and all I can say is get it, it is worth the credit! Definitely keeping this one.

You will love this series!!

The whole series is great, I loved all seven books. it's well written and hilarious. when the babies start being born, the out of control goat, and the brothers are crazy. the sisters are funny also. you have to read them in order though. You're gonna love the male voice, he drags you into the chaos. Enjoy everybody because I sure did!!

Good with few comments....

Hard to like this heroine. She pushes the limits of how long she can punish the hero for a bad mistake 10 years ago when she knew she wanted to be with him before he ever came back. Female narrator didn't help much since she's very nasally and high pitched. Seems that's the trend for young women these days but sure is distracting during the sex scenes. Ha! Texas accent needs some work, too. Her male voice was better so I'm guessing her real voice is probably just fine. lol Joe Hempel was very good. The brothers are typical of young guys these days -- brash, crass and crude but at least, these guys have manners sometimes. So the story was good despite the prolonged punishment. Love the emphasis on family. Got some feels, angst, and nice HEA.
