Summary

Four years after escaping her abusive ex-husband, Kim finally believes she's in control of her life and her emotions and she's determined to never risk either again with a man. She has a great home, a job as a security specialist which she loves, and Jake for a best friend. But things are a tad lonely in the sex department, so she decides to embark on a no-strings-affair with one of her hot co-workers. And who better to help her remember how to lure a man than her best friend?

Jake has wanted Kim from the moment he first saw her, but four years ago, she was too young and too damaged. So he kept her close and he kept her safe, offering her a job in his security company and the training to feel safe again, and he bided his time. But now, after the long wait, if she imagines he's going to stand by while she seduces some other guy.... Never going to happen.

Liked the story found the narrator irratating.

Narrator can't pronounce flash, cash crash dash basically anything ash. As for arse.
Was it a regional accent or a private school plum.

Ok book ruined by dreadful narration

Story was a bit two dimensional.. not great but the overwhelming kiss of death was supplied by the narrator.
I was initially delighted that the narrator was a native uk English speaker but within 5 minutes had changed my mind.
Whilst the Scot’s and Yorkshire accents were fair the worst point was the narrator’s inability to pronounce words properly, e. g. FLASH and THE .
The delivery of the story also failed due to unnatural emphasis on wrong words in the sentence.
I appreciate the free books in the plus catalogue, but I am so thankful I didn’t have to waste a credit on this.

the perfect love story

i absolutely loved it. i wished the male characters voices were actually from a male reader, but you can't have it all.

Irritating narration and annoying heroine.

A drip of a lead (who apparently is so naive she doesn't know about the morning after pill) and a narrator with some really odd pronunciation - flaaaarsh being the worst, and also set in London but with jarring Americanisms! Story OK, if predictable. Just a personal preference, but I much prefer male narrators. Think this is one I would prefer to read than listen to.

A pleasant romance poorly narrated

This romantic story would have been hotter and easier to stomach. If the narrator’s posh British characters didn’t constantly keep putting R’s in words that don’t have them, and taking R’s out of words that do. It is extremely distracting especially during a love scene.
