Summary

Every second generation of the Hale line dies at the hands of an unnameable monster on his 80th birthday. The current Lord Hale turns 80 this Saturday.

To protect himself, Lord Hale has invited paranormal investigation experts Tempest Michaels and Amanda Harper, plus their friends and a whole host of other guests from different fields of supernatural exploration for a birthday dinner at his mansion.

As they sit down for dinner, the lights start to dim and a moaning noise disturbs the polite conversation.

Has Lord Hale placed his faith in the right people, or has he just led them to share his doom?

Finding themselves trapped, Tempest and Amanda, with friends Big Ben and Patience, must join forces with a wizard, some scientists, occult experts, ghost chasers, witches, and other assorted idiots as they fight to make it through the night in one piece.

Could this be their final adventure? Will Tempest, finally, be proven wrong about the paranormal?

A great case for the paranormal detectives.

I've read quite a lot of the Blue moon agency books and they've all been really great stories. Tempest is determined to prove paranormal is a load of codswallop. With his partner in the agency and in real life Amanda they work together to dismiss the things that go bump in the night. This book is Amanda's point of view and narrated brilliantly by Heather Tracy. Tempest, Amanda, Patience, Big Ben and Tempests parents all are all invited to Lord Hales Manor to help save him from the monster who's taken the lives of previous Lords on their 80th Birthday. They meet in the dining room and find many other people who have been invited that include witches, wizards and the paranormal expert Frank among them and more . During the meal the monster shows up and takes off with one of the guests leaving the rest trapped in the room. This is only the start of a very long night for Amanda and the others. A really great book. I discovered the author last year and have enjoyed the books since then. This is the first audio book that I was given by the author and I loved it. The views are entirely my own. But trust me you'll love these stories.

Entertaining!

Lord Hale's Monster is an excellent addition to the Blue Moon Investigation series. The storyline is engaging and entertaining, wrapped in mystery and suspense with loads of twists and turns. Heather Tracy did an outstanding job with the narration, bringing the characters to life. Overall this was an enjoyable listen and will recommend. I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook, and my unbiased review is voluntarily given.

Lots of fun!

At this point I've only read book 4 and this one. This one was much more fun than book 4, and had a different feeling to it. Of course, series do evolve as they go on, but I really feel the difference to this was the narrator and the voice. This was a story told form Harper's point of view, and thus was narrated by a female (who did a great job by the way). I enjoyed book 4 but I really liked this one. In addition, this book was funnier, had more details.

What I find strange is that the illustrations on the early books--kind of cartoonish and a kind of bland matte-like colour scheme--do not at all match the covers for the books in kindle format, or this audio cover. Certainly this cover style matches a LOT better, but they don't match one another, or match exactly how the stories feel to me.

Off to listen to the first books in kindle version with text-to-speech since I cannot read them visually.

I was going to comment in my review (with a spoiler alert) that this had the feeling of an episode of Scooby Doo, yet that actually came up on the book itself so I feel I can say it without the warning.

I received a free copy of this book from the author.

Are the monsters real?

Amanda and Tempest are investigators of the paranormal. They are invited to Lord Hale’s house for dinner and to help him escape a curse that has plagued his family for generations. At least that’s the idea going in. There are lots of twists and many things for Amanda to work out. Tempest gets taken out of the action by a concussion and just becomes a supporting character.
This was a fun listen. The narrator did a good job.
There are some of the characters like Big Ben that I could have done without but I really enjoyed the overall story.

Intriguing little mystery

I totally loved this book and its believable characters. The storyline is descriptive and well written. The twist and turns held me in place till the end. The characters are quirky especially Big Ben he made me laugh. This little mystery was phenomenal and the narrator Heather Tracy did it justice. I highly recommend this book if you love fun funny little mysteries. I received this book at my request and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review here of my own volition.
