Summary

You shared a secret with the wrong person.

Janey Markham is thrilled to be moving with her family to Buckingham Crescent, the smartest address in a desirable suburban town.

Worried she’ll be excluded by the glossy local mothers, Janey is thrilled when she meets Tanya, the kind of woman she has always looked up to. Tanya takes Janey under her wing and her teenage daughter, Angel, is amazing with Janey’s little boy. As Janey and Tanya grow closer, Janey feels she can finally leave her troubled past behind.

But then everything changes....

In a weak moment over a bottle of wine, Janey finds herself telling Tanya her most shocking secret. Why wouldn’t she trust her new friend?

The following day, Janey sees Angel, with a man old enough to be her father, pushing someone into a car. The next day a body is found, and police appeal for witnesses - and share a picture of the same car....

When Janey tells Tanya she is going to the police, Tanya turns threatening. She’ll stop at nothing to defend Angel, even if her daughter is guilty. If Janey says anything, Tanya will make sure that her dark secret gets out. Janey faces an impossible choice. Stay quiet about what she saw that terrible day or speak up and destroy the family she has worked so hard to protect....

From million-copy best seller K.L. Slater comes this twisty and absolutely gripping roller-coaster ride of a listen. Fans of The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl will be totally hooked on Little Whispers.

Cracking Good Ending

A domestic thriller with the woman as the central character. The first half of the book revolves around school runs and mothers grouping at the school gates, their cliques, who lives in the poshest house etc. Towards the end of the book we discover what was really going on behind the social "one-upmanship". It's about who you can trust and who you should not. A cracking good ending I thought, well worth the wait.

I've come to like K. L. Slater as a writer. There's plenty going on, but not so complicated that it becomes difficult to follow.

Dreadful book!

Couldn’t quite believe how bad this book was. Every cliche and stereotype you can imagine. Cross with myself for sticky with it.

Don’t bother, very boring book not worth sticking with

Really I wouldn’t recommend this book. Boring and not worth it. Save yourself the hours!

Not good.

The story could have been edited to about half it’s length. The main character was portrayed as naive, and the ‘evil’ ones stereotypical; the dialogue clunky. Not a great listen.

some interesting parts, too long winded, below par

Really love a good KL Slater book as she does character interaction so well. I found the main character a little naive and not very interesting. I could not love or loathe any other character
in the book they evoked nothing.
I would recommend one of this author's other books as this was really disappointing. I want my credit back!

Boring!!!

Unstoppable thriller?? My arse. Slow, boring and not at all thrilling. Didn't even bother listening to the last half an hour. The most exciting part was the main characters past and they brushed past that in a 30 second explanation.

For thriller/mystery/suspense lovers

K L Slater back to her original 5 star storytelling! I haven't enjoyed her last few books, but pleased to say this one kept me engaged and surprised right to the end; enjoyed every minute.

Another KL Slater classic

As with all Slater’s books, I was hooked from the start - great narration - my only disappointment was that I’d finished it in 2 days!!

A gripping read. Believable from start to finish but how could her husband be so gullible?
