Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Am I a murderer? You tell me . . .

You probably already know my name. Lucy Chase, the woman who doesn’t remember murdering her best friend.

Even though they couldn’t find enough evidence to charge me, I know you all think I did it. That’s OK. I realise being found wandering the streets the next day covered in her blood wasn't a great look.

Believe me, I’m as frustrated as you are. I’d love to know if I’m a murderer – it’s the sort of thing you really should know about yourself, isn’t it?

And now, thanks to true-crime podcast Listen for the Lie, I finally have the chance to find out. But will I be able to live with myself if it turns out it was me?

And if it wasn’t, will digging into the secrets of the night I forgot make me the next target of whoever did?

Perfect for fans of HOW TO KILL YOUR FAMILY by Bella Mackie, NONE OF THIS IS TRUE by Lisa Jewell and MURDER IN THE FAMILY by Cara Hunter.

Highly recommend

Gripped from the beginning, I’ve lost sleep hours to this book. It was brilliantly narrated and was just a great story. I loved it.

A true crime podcast

If Amy Tintera writes another crime novel I will surely read it! I truly enjoyed listening to this novel, it was an amazing ride! I really hated Lucy's parents for not believing in her and assumed that she had committed a crime just because her husband told them that. They were so frustrating, especially her mother! I loved her grandma though! She was the shining star of this novel!

5/5 my first finished audiobook. Brilliant

This book was brilliant. I tried another audiobook before this one and got about two chapters in before I couldn’t bare to listen anymore. I feared all audiobooks would be the same but this was brilliant. I kind of wish I had read the physical book it was that good. Narration was brilliant. Was easy to distinguish who was talking. I honestly thought there was 3 people reading this till at the end it only said two names.

The storyline was brilliant. It had me hooked from the start. Lucy was so likeable in her stand offish, sarcastic, hilarious mannerisms. The whole way through the book I was back and forth between who I thought was the killer. Sooooo good.

A good story

It was fine kept my attention - a little drawn out but satisfactory as far as the denouement is concerned

Fun novel that leans into the audiobook form

Firstly this is cool to read in audiobook format. They’ve done a great job of integrating the story into the strengths of an audiobook. Also this book works as an audiobook for the most part - the perspective of the main character and plot is clear. There are probably a couple too many characters to follow with very similar characteristics and interplay which made it slightly tricky.

I like the main character and the main antagonist. They have a kind of depth which makes them feel balanced as people and still not unlikeable.

I think the book is a bit too long and it drags a conceit for probably a bit too long which starts eating at the momentum. I’m not sure what could really be extracted in terms of other developments though.

I really liked this though and worth it for entertainingness and listening in the car.

It’s basic!

I disliked the weak story that was spelled out like the listener is a half wit and the annoying unlikeable readers voice that made the protagonist sound like someone one couldn’t care about whether innocuous not.
