Summary

Two childhood friends are playing house - and maybe playing for keeps - in USA Today bestselling author Adriana Locke’s funny, sexy, and unpredictable marriage-of-convenience romance.

To save her Tennessee bed-and-breakfast, Sophie Bates needs a fast-cash miracle. Holden McKenzie, her childhood best friend, needs to prove to a prospective employer that he’s a committed man. Their fortunes on the line, Holden proposes...a solution.

He’ll take care of Sophie’s bills if she agrees to a temporary marriage of convenience. And why not? They’re comfortable together, they have fun, and they trust each other. It’s as simple as saying “I do.” But the off-the-cuff wedding has all of Honey Creek talking - and Sophie and Holden realizing that their perfect arrangement is working too well. If they’re not careful, this marriage could turn into a love story.

Like You Love Me

Not a bad read (or listen in this case). The story was average, but cute. The performances were good, they did a fine job, but they also didn't make the story any better for me.

If you want a wholesome, safe romance, this is the one for you.

Hudson and Sophie

Marriage of convenience equals destiny!! Hudson and Sophie were best friends (at least in the summer) throughout childhood. When Hudson returns home and needs an insta wife he proposes to Sophie in return for helping her keep Honey House. I think both really knew deep down they were meant to be when they both went after the Pay Day in the car lol! But seriously, you can’t fake that friendship and bond these two have that is the ultimate love story! The supporting characters were just as fun especially Dottie and Birdie! Hudson and Sophie are the perfect couple!

Like You Love Me ~ Review

Like You Love Me is the first book in the Honey Creek series. Every time Adriana Locke comes out with a new book I get really excited to read it and then it becomes my new favorite. Like You Love Me is no different! I love Holden and Sophie so much! This book is told from dual points of view.

Holden and Sophie were childhood best friends. Holden would spend the summers with his grandparents and Sophie lived at Honey Creek and they would spend all summer together. Now as adults both are struggling with their own problems. Sophie owns a bed and breakfast and Holden is a vet. He just lost his job and fiancée and is back in Honey Creek to help his grandpa at the vet clinic. He's trying to get a job in Florida that he's been dreaming about his whole life.

Holden ends up renting a room in the bed and breakfast Sophie owns and they decide to get married for convivence to help both of them out with something they need. As the book goes on though they start to have feelings for each other. Holden and Sophie both have to make some tough decisions in this book.

Will Holden get the chance of a lifetime with the job he wants? Will Sophie be willing to leave her bed and breakfast behind? Will their feelings evolve?

I loved this book so much, and I can not wait for the next book in the series! I'm really hoping it's Sophie's sister's book with her new boss.

The Narrators really brought this book to life!

Shakespearean quote used for tears smiles.

Cute blend of humor, romance, and tears.
I believe this is a Shakespearean quote, but I could be wrong. I apologize if that is the case.

Sweet friends to lovers romance

This is a friends to lovers romance done right. Fair notice- I’m a fan of Adriana Locke so I was excited to get this early copy from NetGalley. But this story follows childhood friends, Holden and Sophie, who both need the other for help and therefore decide to go through a “fake marriage”. But even before this, the banter, the laughs, the delightful relationship they have drew me in and I absolutely love the couple. I rooted for them, even knowing that rocky roads were ahead because Holden didn’t want to stay in this small town the story is set in. (The supporting cast making up this small town is great too). Plenty of laughs, swoons and heartwarming moments abound. I look forward to more books set in this charming small town!

I purchased the audiobook for my second read and it was well done, having been narrated by Lidia Dornet and Ryan West. It was a good narration that drew me back into the story and into Honey Creek.

Sweet

Adriana Locke writes beautiful character based stories with all the feels. Like You Love Me is no exception. It also hit one of my favorite tropes - the pretend relationship. This one had the added benefit of a guy growing up and figuring out what is really important in life. I liked that. I actually started reading this to myself, then switched to audio format, both provided with KU. Nice. The narrators, I like Ryan West. He does a decent job of reading, evoking some emotion, though I have heard him do better than here. Lidia Dornet - a new to me narrator. Her voice was okay, but . . . She didn't draw me in. It was convenient for me to switch to audio, but I wasn't impressed. Glad it was a freebie.

so good!

I'm not usually a fan of the dual narration, I end up wishing either one or the other did the whole book because I end up liking one better. both narrators did a fantastic job! I read the book and loved it and immediately wanted to reread it, but when I saw it had the audio included in Kindle unlimited, I listened to it instead of the reread, and loved it just as much!

Such a sweet story!

I’m not big on marriage of convenience but I loved this! It was so sweet, funny, and had a great story line. Didn’t hurt that the couple were friends as kids, I loved it all!
