Summary

Twenty-year-old Brooklyn "Bee" Turner is no stranger to grief. After witnessing her mother's brutal murder at age six, Brooklyn is guarded, damaged, and - by all accounts - a bitch. And that's just the way she likes it if it means keeping everyone at arm's length.

When she stumbles, quite literally, into Finn Chambers - campus ladies' man and the lead singer of a local band - she's unprepared for his persistence in befriending her and for the dangerous attraction she begins to feel for him. Because with Finn, she knows that it would be more than just sex, more than just friendship, and maybe even more than just love.

When a sinister presence from her past reemerges, Brooklyn will be pushed to her breaking point. For the first time in 15 years, she will confront both her grief and her memories as she plays a deadly game of cat and mouse with an unforeseen enemy.

Blah, blah, blah

This story could have been good, but it was tedious. The narrator spoke so slowly that I increased the speed, just to get through it before my birthday came around again.

The story could not be sustained by the main character's behavior. I'm not going to elaborate much on this, because I have already wasted 8+ hours on this dumb book. I finish most books. I just do, I buy them and feel I am supposed to finish them. This was painful to finish, even though the end was better than the middle or the beginning.

It was a stupid story worsened by bad narration and I want my 8+ hours back.

Good storyline

I am really happy that I stumbled onto this book. I really like the authors work. It's more of a YA book so there is some juvenile scenes, but if you can get past that you will enjoy it. It was way more interesting than I expected

Could not finish

Brooklyn was just awful. I couldn't stand her at all. I only got to chapter 7 because I was just done with her attitude. She was mean to Finn and her friend. She complained about her friend being so self absorbed. Why would her friend really care about her when she never told her friend anything about herself. Her friend really didn't know her. I didn't understand why she was so awful anyway. I don't think her mother being murdered when she was six would make her act the way she did. Her reactions to life were just a little over the top. I couldn't figure out why Finn even liked her. Of course he was a little weird on his own. The way he kept talking to her like she didn't just insult him was a little much. I also couldn't figure out how Brooklyn could wake up screaming from her dreams but yet, her friend never heard her. That part didn't make sense at all. I'm just so glad this book was apart of the Audible Escape package and I didn't have to give up a credit for it.

I didn't really care for the narrator either. She made the females sound extra bitchy and the men sounded like creeps.

Enjoyed the story

I feel bad saying this but I wasn't a fan of the narrator. She made the hero sound like a villain. Like, I'm picturing him twirling the ends of his handlebar mustache...

Worth a listen

Dramatic yes, but kept me interested. The female lead is annoying at times, but I enjoyed it!
