However, few players understand exactly how to exploit these games. Competent players who generally play larger stakes will, of course, beat them. But they won't beat them for nearly as much as they ought to. Why? Because they don't understand how to adjust correctly.

He has been a commentator on the WPT, along with Vince Van Patten, since its inception.
In addition, Mike was recognized as poker's Top Ambassador at the Card Player Magazine Player of the Year Awards gala in 2006. A better poker player than narrator or author.
After the first section about his childhood the audiobook seems to get bogged down in bland descriptions of games he's seen or been in. His attitudes to life were too right wing and unthinking and made me like the man less.

Finally an anecdotal poker book!
Any additional comments?
I have long been searching for a poker book that isn't concerned with strategy, something that I can listen to casually and will spark my interest in the game. This book is exactly that. Mike Sexton details his career in poker, golf and sports gambling with numerous anecdotes featuring some names you'll recognise and some you'll want to know more about.
If I have one criticism it is that for some reason Sexton repeats quotes and smaller details of anecdotes as though he hasn't previously told you the exact same thing earlier in the book.
Overall it is a great read, by a very interesting individual and the self-narration brings an additional quality to the book.

Outstanding Gambling Memoir
You likely know Mike Sexton from his enthusiastic commentary on the world poker tour, the televised poker show that changed poker forever and helped ignite the poker boom.
Before listening to his narration of his own memoir, that's all I knew about the author. I now know far more, and in as entertaining a manner as it's possible to learn about someone's fascinating life.
This book is not only about Mike; it is filled with stories of many of the legendary gambling names of the last two generations. I heard stories here I had heard nowhere else. While I would never want to live those stories, they were fascinating to learn.
Highly recommended.

Interesting man narrating his own life well
You might know Mike Sexton as the lead announcer of the World Poker Tour. I had missed him on the current WPT and wondered what happened to him after 14 years. So I found a You Tube video where he mentioned his book. The voice I knew was back. The stories both good and bad for him are really easy listens. I used to play on Party Poker before they left the U.S. He worked for them at the time the book was written. A listener gets to follow the life of a colorful person along his journey. This is a hard audio to turn off. You just have to keep listening to learn more about Mike and the sport of Poker. It is worthy of five stars.
