Summary

Susan and Carlos were unlikely friends. She was a young, overweight college professor and a bit of a trainwreck - juggling a divorce, a pack-a-day habit, and hiding empty boxes of wine under her bed. He was her boss, an Ironman triathlete, with life figured out. She was a whiner, he was a hard-ass. He had his shit together, she most assuredly did not.

Trash-talking workouts, breakdowns, a devastating diagnosis - this heartwarming story of training buddies reveals a deep and abiding friendship that traversed life, sport, and everything in between. Their journey reveals the inspiring power of sports and friendship to change lives forever.

Amusing and poignant, Life's Too Short to Go So F--king Slow is about running and triathlon, growth and heartbreak, and an epic friendship that went the distance.

Inspiring how one person can change a life

When I first started listening the narrator's voice really grated on me. However, I persevered and I gradually got sucked into the story and got hooked.

As I had never read what the book was about (other than cycling) it was a shock when the story took a sudden turn. This only made we want to listen more and hope that all would work out good.

I have to say that, for someone who is not known to be a softy, I found there to be some very touching moments in the later chapters.

Nice (auto)triography

Nice relaxed story about a young woman discovering endurance and tri thanks to a ( to become ) best friend. The friend has a lot of love for the sport, hence wisdom to share. Allin all More about the friendship than tri , i found this audiobook great for relaxed commuting and you’ll pickup some endurancesport attitudeboosters too.

Lazy Runner, Avid Reader

I’m just a runner and a lazy one at that. Triathlons do not appeal to me...at least, they didn’t until I listened to this book. I’m still skeptical, but there was a moment or two during this book when I thought, “I can do/be an Ironman!” Maybe I am a member of Susan’s “crazy people” club.

I loved the story of friendship, determination, and love. You do not have to be any kind of athlete to read or listen to this book. It’s funny, sad, inspiring, and many other adjectives.

A friendship must read

My best friend recommended this book to me, and I couldn't wait to start it. I devoured the story in a day, even starting right over again when I finished. Fabulous stort telling, and the narrator NAILED IT. The emotions and personality came through beautifully.
