A YA Dragon Rider Fantasy Adventure With A Unique Magic Spin

Winnie and her linked dragon, Kygo will have joined up in the first book, which I haven't read. I think you will enjoy this book more if you have a deeper understanding of their backstory. However, mention of previous events were sufficient to follow the plot in this one. Winnie has been betrayed and managed to escape along with another character who shared the prison with the dragon. Their opponents had been experimenting upon the captives and have unwittingly gifted Winnie with a special power, life force magic. Her main task is to rescue the rest of her delegation operating in enemy land on a mercy mission. We hear of her resourcefiulness and ingenuity in helping her companions and others. The reader also witnesses her growth in understanding and learning about her power and how to wield it safely. Therer are action scenes and I felt invested in the main characters, but felt the climax was a bit rushed and unlikely. The ending is not a cliff-hanger, but leaves the door open for our feisty, teenage , heroine and her dragon companion to have more adventures.

The narrator has to voice male, female and dragon voices and performs well although I felt some of the "baddies" were a bit hammed up.
