About this listen

Internationally bestselling author Gretchen Rubin's tour of the five senses, finding happiness through sight, sound, touch, taste and scent.

Gretchen Rubin has spent over a decade exploring the different routes to happiness and contentment. But she realised that by focussing so much on the mind, she was missing out on the physical experience of being human. If we don't engage with our senses, time passes without us fully experiencing it.

So this audiobook will take you on a journey through the five senses, to help you get out of your head and into your life. With exercises to enhance your appreciation of food and nature, or sharpen your memory by learning to see more clearly, Life in Five Senses is a handbook for exploring the world more fully, and getting to know yourself along the way.

A great listen. Really enjoyed being reminded and encouraged to reach out and experience all of my senses

Thought provoking!

Typical Gretchen. Nice idea, good insight, but there was too much of the author's personal examples in it with which not everyone can relate - half of the book mentions MET in NY which so few people worldwide have visited. For more relaxing read/listen I would recommend The art if stillness by Pico Iyer.

Less mesearch and more mememesearch

A good reminder if so much that we take for granted. Written and read in a way to make anyone feel they could enhance their life by thinking about and exploring their senses a little more.

Enjoyable exploration of the senses

Ideal for those who find their mind is dominated by thoughts, or those of us who spend longer than we intend looking at screens - it is good to be able to learn how to reconnect with the real world, in ways that matter
