Summary

The best selling six-books series is now complete! In video games, players hunt monsters.

But what happens when a veteran player finds himself on the monster's side?

Oren, a high-level guild master, wakes in the body of a lowly goblin. Cast out, betrayed by his most trusted advisors, Oren is stuck in New Era Online. However, there are advantages to being on the monsters’ side. Starting from scratch, he’ll have to build up a powerful monster clan to take revenge. But first, he'll have to survive long enough not to be someone else's fodder.

Life Reset is the first book in the bestselling fantasy LitRPG series that follows a monster main character who wields darkness-based magic. Includes heavy elements of town-building, raising a monster clan, magic, powerful enemies, and asking the deep existential questions of what it means to be alive inside a digital reality.

Promising

I'm at chapter 7 and I decided that I've experienced enough to write a review of the book, if It was a masterpiece as my last book I would have been too into it to take my time and write this message. I wouldn't do that until I had listened to at list first book all and maybe some of the second.

But, I think you've got the point. The story is not bad at all, I can hardly find something worth pointing out that it's not OK. For some, this story could be their 'masterpiece' as it was for me the previous title.. but exactly because I already found mine previously, I might not be totally subjective about it.

So going back to the point, the only bad thing about it it's that the voice of the little A.I. translating all the in-game details is bothering. It's enough listening to it saying one or two things from time to time, but having to listen to the voice speaking all the details of skills etc every time the MC improves is annoying and totally wakes you up from the world that the author tries to make you stay. If the game voice remained as previously, it would've been perfect.

For future reference, if you are going to mimic an annoying voice for a character.. please make sure we are not stuck to listen to it all the time. Thanks!

Pretty Fun Read

If you love the MMORPG genre then you'll love this; it's not the best I've read, but it's up there and beats out all of the ridiculous amounts of stuck in an MMO fantasy world that animé studios keep spitting out. At least in book form they aren't going to rush it out so that it feels lifeless.

Litrpg, base builders dream!

Brilliantly told, trapped in a game, high stakes, base building and Rts qualities

One of my top 3 steries

Weirdly entertaining

I don’t understand why the story with all the stats and player options being read was so enjoyable nut it was. Nice how the layers and scope of the story keep expanding.

One of the best of the LitRPG genre.

Just as a warning the chapter starts/ends in the book don't quite match up with those in audible by a few minutes.

This does hit a lot of the Lit RPG tropes and despite having not read one in ages I could see where it was going a bit because of that. Player is the best, awesome new abilities, knows people high up in management, does things for the first time etc. There is also an abundance of stats which is more of an audiobook problem.

Having said that the player is meant to be a super genius but agreed to lots of legal stuff without a lawyer. Wtf? This may have a deeper in-universe explanation.

Lot of similar names Vic, Brec, Gric etc. Not easy on audio.

The protagonist gets annoyed by subordinate's impoliteness but is himself impolite to them. He rarely says please but demands respect. It started to annoy me after a while.

Could have ended hour earlier, natural end point was there.

Overall it is quite a good fic. You've got to know what sort of book you're heading into but it is fairly compelling. I'll probably read the next one in a few months. There is some original stuff in here which is unusual for a well-trod genre.

One of the Better LitRPG novels out there

Certainly a good story, characterisation done well, however I could really do without the echo on the VI and system messages.
