Summary

The best selling six-books series is now complete! In video games, players hunt monsters.

But what happens when a veteran player finds himself on the monster's side?

Oren, a high-level guild master, wakes in the body of a lowly goblin. Cast out, betrayed by his most trusted advisors, Oren is stuck in New Era Online. However, there are advantages to being on the monsters’ side. Starting from scratch, he’ll have to build up a powerful monster clan to take revenge. But first, he'll have to survive long enough not to be someone else's fodder.

Life Reset is the first book in the bestselling fantasy LitRPG series that follows a monster main character who wields darkness-based magic. Includes heavy elements of town-building, raising a monster clan, magic, powerful enemies, and asking the deep existential questions of what it means to be alive inside a digital reality.

Excellent adeptation for audio of a superb story

OK, so I loved the book and therefore bought the audio version, but trust me that doesn't always live up to the anticipation. Here however, I can confirm it truly does and is well worth the investment of time and money to acquire. If you are on a budget though, you may want to wait until the two are offered together as it is really expensive to get unless you have a credit waiting for a home ( and I really hope you do!)

Having said that you are getting excellent value for money as the Audible version is very well done. Jeff is a great narrator with good diction and timing for the pace of the novel and it is a long book and story, so try and fly to Australia to listen to it, so you don't listen to it at work!

Moving to the story and plot. The opening chapters are, to me a little clunky as the author assimilates the real world and game world to us, but some really thoughtful examples of what would happen to the world if immersion technology really happened, but this is OK and certainly drew me into the story very easily. Once in, it really takes off and the Main Character then starts to develop or to be fair redevelop and you get a rich game world and system with some clever mechanics. This is definitely a game world you would want to play in and be a part of and the system is easy to follow.

Leveling is well done, usually they kill a God in chapter 3 and then are uniquely brilliant. Here there is some uniquely brilliant skills etc, but the story makes it both acceptable and plausible in the context as well as some clever out of the box thinking on gaming lore and procedures.

The plot is good and diverse, though of course following a relatively predictable theme of gaining levels etc. But it is more than that and is engrossing and engaging so 10 out of 10 for the Shemer Kuznits for the plot and for the cast which also fills out the story. Lots of people for you to like, love and treat like old friends when they develop in Book Two..

Now I just want Book Two and the second book on Audible! No pressure, happy to receive them in time for Christmas.......

Seriously, this is a great book and a great Audible purchase and one of the very best in this LitRPG Genre.

Good take on LitRPG

As with a lot of the LitRPG i love how this takes a player character and turns him into an NPC with added powers and controls. This gives some great options to the story and although this drags a little in some areas i reckon this is a good 4.5 stars and worthy of getting the 2nd in the series.
Narration is what you would expect from Hays and his good use of the male/female voices always stands out to me. I also liked this Annilator effects.

Excellent LitRPG

I have listened to almost all of the LitRPG books on audible and was struggling to find anything I liked as much as the Land by Aleron Kong. This book did not disappoint.
Certainly the best book I have listened to in a long time.

Brilliant 1st book

23 hours of superb audio enjoyment with only minor points the author should change in my personal view.

The MC is rude and very abrupt with very little, if any courtesy when initiating conversation with other chrs.

The author uses suspense at EVERY turn that it reduces the effect that is intended after a while.

(Spoiler), Not happy with the never ending detail when the MC was captured and tortured near the end of the book.

The MC is constantly thinking negatively and could be more positive at times. This would reduce the suspense sometimes but suspense at every turn is too much and made me jump forward in 30 sec intervals until the so called suspense monent was over. Just too much, too often.

Other than all that, when's the next book, I can't wait. On audio of course.

Overall, terrific 1st book, well done and keep it up please.

Phenomenal

Usually an avid scifi reader. This series just keeps getting better with deep character development. while some parts can drag a little the overall story and progression really keeps you hooked and the narration simply transports you away and keeps getting better with additional voices playing female roles in the later books. Probably the best narration I've heard in half a decade on audible and that's no small feat. Give it a go!

Not a bad book overall!

Creature stats readouts get a little repetitive, but not too much so that you get bored, part of the format really!
The story seems to progress slowly, but it's part of the protagonists struggle so it fits,
try not to think "Why isn't he doing this?"
Or, "He really could do that, why hasn't he done it already?"
Some of it's a learning curve for him, and other times he has his reasons that end up getting g explained anyway.
Enjoy it for what it is!
The narrator does a pretty good job, even with the voice changer effects I appreciate his work in finding different voices for different characters.
Good solid, quality work.
Highly enjoyable, looking forward to the next!

Story OK but audio needs some serious editing

To repeat myself the audio needs some serious editing there's a character called Vic and the voice actors makes him shrill and very loud like every time he speaks I have to lower my volume
