Der Autor:
Tieck, geboren 1773 und gestorben 1853 in Berlin, gilt als "König der Romantik" (F. Hebbel). Erstudierte Theologie, Philosophie und Literatur und gehörte ab 1799 zur Jenaer Frühromantik. Seit 1825 Dramaturg des Hoftheater in Dresden. 1841 wurde er von Friedrich Wilhem IV. nach Berlin gerufen. Ludwig Tieck galt bei seinen Zeitgenossen als bedeutendster Dichter nach Goethe.
