Critic reviews

Review of Paul Noble Method by The City Magazine:
“Relaxing and listening to the CDs, I found that I seemed to absorb the phrases taught, without even consciously trying, and quickly felt confident enough to play around with the different components and make my own sentences.”
Reviews of Collins Spanish with Paul Noble written by Amazon customers:
"I am pleased to report that this is really good fun to use because as you listen you are encouraged to CREATE VOCABULARY AND PHRASES FOR YOURSELF out of the bits of structure that you are picking up. Not only is it a completely non-threatening process but it is also entertaining in itself… Great method and superb value."
"The simplicity and ease of picking up the phrases encourages you to keep on going knowing that it is sticking. Plus he does not expect you to learn a whole list of vocabulary and words to master the language… Try the Mr Noble method and I am sure you will not be disappointed. I was not."
"We both have a basic grasp of the relevant languages but this course is helping to improve our speaking ability better than all the previous attempts we have made. Try it."
"For those who love languages but struggle to learn them this is a wonderful resource. I haven't completed the full 12 CDs yet but Paul Noble's approach is relaxed and completely stress free."
"Forget everything you know about learning a language. This is a completely different approach… For someone who has always struggled with languages this is just what I was looking for."

I found this to be as good as any other language course I've tried, and as far as it goes, it was a great start.

However, I wouldn't call this a "complete" course. I would call it the first month of a two year course. Trouble is - those other audiobooks are not out there!

When I ordered this, I saw there were other titles, and assumed (wrongly) that they followed on from this. They don't. They are sections within this "complete course". Ergo - I've already done them.

So, I can say "I'm going to ask why he doesn't understand that I can't buy it today"

But I can't say "How are you?" or "that's nice!"

Content wise - some areas are laboured over and over and over. Some areas are touched upon only once, in passing. Be prepared to do a lot of re-winding for more practice.

Now I need to find another course with more content to keep the learning going. Any suggestions?

Great starter course, but in no way complete

I have been learning spanish on and off for a few years. All self taught. I made more progress through this course and the intermediate one after it than I did it aprox 150 hours of traditional learning and other audio sources.

You will not be fluent by any means but the base it gives is excellent. Repetitive but it works and makes it stick.

Obviously you won’t be fluent by the end of this, but if you’re like me and your teachers told you that you were a bit crap, then by the end of this you’ll have two ideological fingers up at them while your conjugating verbs like a pro with little to no effort. It was a small consolation prize for the teenage self for the many wasted hours of hoop jumping. the amount of progress made in learning and consolidating the building blocks of the language from a beginner stage is really good and i think it’s realistic to say that it probably goes quite far. the ‘further steps’ sequel is good too. Both are confidence boosting and encouraged me to go and work on my Spanish further and actually use it. The PDF was handy too.
My one criticism is that I would have liked a greater range of words. ‘What is mango in Spanish: Mango. Mango’ gave me the sneaky feeling that Paul and/or Collins were holding out on us. ‘Surely there is more at the market?!’

Yes. Pretty Good

I found this a lot easier to get through than the Michel course. Here, Paul delivers in a no nonsense style with no distracting joking or conversations. This isn't
a classroom format like that as you have recordings of native speakers demonstrating the Spanish

You go through some of the simpler grammatical concepts and they are explained well with a Latino and Castilian speaker most of the way

Not very often you're challenged to say more complex or multiple sentences at a time which felt useful but unfortunately there wasn't much of it.

This is a good starter's course or for anyone wanting to refresh or get a different perspective on the basic concepts

Great, but wish there was more complexity
