Summary

Ruined by the music

The amount of musical interludes ruins the flow of the story. I can accept a (very) short one at the start of each chapter but they are so long and frequent that you’re left drumming your fingers waiting for them to end.

Attention!

A Léon Werth.

A beautiful story

They have done a pretty good job on this audio book. I loved the way the voice actor read the story. I highly recommend this version.

Delightful, deep and meaningful.

The music was a bit of a trial but the book and the narrator made up for it.

Disappointing

Is there anything you would change about this book?

A classic story which I love. However, the recording has not been divided into tracks, so it is not possible to find your way around 1 hour 50 minutes of audio. I bought this book to improve my French comprehension and was hoping to play sections several times. Tthe playing of music over the dialogue makes it difficult to hear the french.

Any additional comments?

It was not cheap and I may try to obtain a refund for it if I do not manage to get on wtih it.

Highly recommended

Interesting story, great reader with multiple voices for different characters, and musical interludes. A creative critic of human character.

bought it to practice french

I have the hard copy and I bought this so that I could follow along and practice reading long with listening comprehension. The hard copy version I have is slightly different but not so much so that I can't use this audio book along with the text.

Tres Belle

The story is beautiful and beautifully read. At first, I did not like the addition of musical interludes, because I was replaying passages often to try to understand, and I would have to hear the music repeated each time. But as I became more acclimated to the French, and the story became more tender, I liked very much the addition of the music. This recording is not just a reading, but art. Thank you.

Une demande qui est venu vrai

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, One because this book is wonderful, and two, every student of french want to read (and now we can listen too) The Little Prince on french.

What other book might you compare Le Petit Prince to and why?

Well, on my opinion, The Little Prince is a kind of book you can compare to others.

Which scene was your favorite?

I love this book, but the end is special fo me yet.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and it is little too. So, I could listen in one sitting.

Any additional comments?

This french version is a present of Audible for us.

Learning French?

This is no child's book! Full of passé simple and other old style words and phrases, Not for the beginner and probably not for intermediates. Id recommend Camus books before trying this , try L'Etrager.

Timeless story enchanting narrator

Touching, simple, story that's only grown more meaningful the many times I've read and listened to it in English, Spanish, and now the original French.

What made this version was Bernard Giradeau's voice. He throws himself completely into the narration and brings every character to palpable life - so much so that despite having listened to numbness to the Spanish version, I was deeply moved this time around by his convincingly winsome, wistful, and naive Prince. (And his voice is incredibly soothing. I look forward to listening and re-listening to this audiobook to get used to French!)
