The next explosive standalone thriller from Sunday Times bestselling author Stephen Leather, featuring appearances from Dan 'Spider' Shepherd.

Friendships forged in the heat of combat can be stronger than anything.

So when SAS trooper Matt Standing is told that the former Navy SEAL who saved his life is in trouble, he doesn't hesitate to go to his aid - even if that means flying half way around the world to Los Angeles.

Navy SEAL-turned-bodyguard Bobby-Ray Barnes has been accused of killing the man he was supposed to be protecting. Three other bodyguards were also killed and now Bobby-Ray is on the run.

The dead client was a Russian oligarch with connections to the Kremlin. But who wanted him dead? And if Bobby-Ray wasn't the killer, who carried out the assassination and why is Bobby-Ray being framed? Standing is the only man who can answer those questions - providing he can stay alive long enough.

Good to see the Matt Standing making another appearance, but as always, it's over too soon.

Loved it.

Really enjoying these books however, sometimes small portions of the book repeat. I thought I was going mad the first time!!

Ok if some of the paragraphs didn’t repeat

Action, people, relationships, double dealing; which together make an exciting, engrossing, thoroughly enjoyable read. Great narrator, he brings words to life.

really good read

Solid plot and enjoyable. It is too descriptive and I found it hard to concentrate during these moments. For example, produced a key from her pocket for the door, put the key in the lock and turned it. Simply saying pulled a key from her pocket and unlocked it. There are a lot of examples like this. Luckily the future books in the series aren’t like this.

Still worth a listen and a fantastic plot where the conspiracy is hard to figure out until the end of the book!

Good plot but over descriptive
