Be Aware

This is fine for what it is, however what it is is simply a list of English Words followed by the Chinese equivalent.

The words are split into categories such as Accommodations, Weights & Measures, General Verbs etc., But there is no easy access to get to the bit you want.

There is a PDF file accompanying the book that lists all the words, but again with no guide to find it quickly on the audio file.

What it will do is allow you to hear the proper pronunciation of the Chinese word.

What it won't do is teach you how to speak Chinese, which I suppose it didn't say that it would.

The Chinese Speakers Are Awful!

As a native Chinese speaker from Beijing and a Chinese teacher in the US, I must say the Chinese speakers on the recording have the most hideous accent imaginable. They pronounce 'sh' as 's', 'zh' as 'z', 'ch' as 'c', among many other things, a clear indication of uneducated and provincial speakers. If you don't want to sound like an illiterate peasant from a remote village, avoid the tape like the plague.
