This audiobook will take you through the basics of Thai with Basic Bootcamp, All About, and Pronunciation lessons.
The five Basic Bootcamp lessons each center on a practical, real-life conversation. At the beginning of the lesson, we'll introduce the background of the conversation. Then, you'll hear the conversation two times: one time at natural native speed, and one time with English translation. After the conversation, you'll learn carefully selected vocabulary and key grammar concepts. Next, you'll hear the conversation one time at natural native speed. Finally, practice what you have learned with the review track. In the review track, a native speaker will say a word or phrase from the dialogue, wait three seconds, and then give you the English translation. Say the word aloud during the pause. Halfway through the review track, the order will be reversed. The English translation will be provided first, followed by a three-second pause, and then the word or phrase from the dialogue. Repeat the words and phrases you hear in the review track aloud to practice pronunciation and reinforce what you have learned.
In the 15 All About lessons, you’ll learn all about Thai and Thailand. Our native teachers and language experts will explain everything you need to know to get started in Thai, including how to understand the writing system, grammar, pronunciation, cultural background, tradition, society, and more - all in a fun and educational format!
The five Pronunciation lessons take you step-by-step through the most basic skill in any language: how to pronounce words and sentences like a native speaker. You’ll go from basic concepts to advanced tips and will soon sound like you’ve been speaking Thai your entire life.

okay with some useful phrases but alot of English waffle
the Thai bits are good but few and far between mostly talking in English about stuff like how to work Google translate, really is that needed? 😂 they seem to just be trying to fill the tiime with chat rather than teach Thai.

Excellent for the total beginner - a kindergarten Is exactly what you need
A really good grounding is essential to speaking good Thai. Even if you feel the level 2 disc more appropriate for you I would still advise going quickly through disc 1. I am at level 3 and I still find it of interest. Indeed, I would recommend the whole series and make sure that you download the PDF and follow them with the recordings. The best piece of advice I can give any beginner is to learn to learn to read in Thai right from the start. Drop romanisation as soon as you can. As you advance it will pay phenomenal dividends. Your learning curve will become exponential!
My only criticism of the disc, and it is quite a big one, is the American student’s voice which is not only irritating to some ears, but his Thai pronunciation at times leaves something to be desired. It would have been far better to have employed a natural Thai speaker to fill this role. Nevertheless I would still suggest getting the series as it is the best that I have found so far. Good luck and enjoy the experience.
